The canyon itself is breathtaking and enormous. It was worth the drive in from Sequoia. With that said when we went the ranger station at Grant had some of the most unhelpful rangers, and the other visitor center / ranger station at cedar grove was closed though there was no indication of it until you got there.

Beautiful park, not as crowded as other national parks. The canyon is not as dramatic as Yosemite's, but still beautiful and a lot less crowded. Some good hikes and waterfalls along King's Highway. Just be prepared for the "face flies" down at the eastern end, by Road's End. Elevation is much lower than adjoining Sequoia National Park. There are no in park accommodations, other than camp grounds. Highly recommend the hike to Mist Falls.

Absolutely awesome. You can start at Kings Canyon to see Grant tree and then go to General Sherman's. The road is beautiful and there are wild animals along it to watch.

A lot of white-knuckle driving, but well worth it. The views are absolutely spectacular. There are many great water features throughout the park and interesting rock formations.

The road to the valley is impressive, on the side of the hills/cliffs/mountains. The valley is nice but not as nice as Yosemite. Therefore if you are in a time crunch and already have seen Yosemite, I would skip this and spend more time in Sequoia natl park. As the full drive to the valley and back is 3 hours and that is without taking any long walk or stops.
