Story

This KOA is located in the Big Sky Country where Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer made his last stand. Stay at this campground and visit the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument and museum and watch Custer's Last Stand Reenactment in late June. Don't forget Pompeys Pillar National Monument, Bighorn River, Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area and a trip to the Yellowtail Dam. Stay in the grassy tent sites or level RV sites and enjoy the swimming pool, hot tub and horseshoes. Little campers can try out the new playground swings while you visit with friendly neighbors. Grab a treat at the nightly ice cream socials and free coffee every morning. Let your pets roam the large walking area for exercise. Oh, yes-trout fishing on the Bighorn River is just a mile away. It's only a five-hour drive west to Yellowstone National Park and a five-hour drive east to Mount Rushmore.

I pulled into this KOA with no reservations after a long trek through Wyoming after leaving The Badlands. I was afraid they'd be booked full being the holiday week. The warmth and care of the host (owner?) was amazing -- she led me to my campsite in her golf cart, and the site was nice. Pastoral setting and bunnies everywhere. Even had a little picnic shelter structure in the site. It was a real tent site, not just a site where you can put a tent. I wish we could have stayed longer than one night. Facilities were immaculate and located close to the tent sites.

Great firewood bundles. Bathrooms could use an update, but no real complaints. Owners were awesome.

Location is quiet and peaceful. Not far from Hardin but not in walking distance. Facility needs some upgrades like repainting picnic tables, doing some weed control and trimming trees. Need to redo the playground area. Bathrooms clean. Rancher next door baled hay today so cloud of hay debree filled the air. Cleared up an hour later. For sale sign in window. Water tastes good.

I was very impressed with the staff friendliness and helpfulness. Dave, the owner, flaky takes pride in his camp. The showers were immaculate, lawns well tended, and the bicycle decorations a very nice touch. Approaching from of the highway the camp appears as an oasis on the plains. Convenient to the highway, but far enough to be noiseless, and well shaded. Well be staying on our return trip.
