Story

Open 6 days a week in one of the oldest buildings on Hoboken's waterfront, the Museum's exhibition space may be small, but packs a lot of information into a series of creative exhibits. Admission is just $4. Exhibits change every 6 to 12 months, and topics have included a history of music, sweets, maps, social & civic clubs, maps, the pivotal decade of the 70s, and now Superstorm Sandy. Our upper gallery hosts six exhibits per year by local and regional artists. We use interactive technology to expand our displays, and our collections manager has digitized tens of thousands of items, all accessible online. We organize lectures, films, tours, family fun and more. Our education programs reach thousands of children each year. We welcome volunteers for our special fundraising events, a great way to get to know people in town. Call 201-656-2240, or visit our website for more information.

Great little museum. I wish it was bigger.

They set the standard for a small town museum. The downstairs space features in-depth exhibitions of local interest, such as Frank Sinatra or the centennial of World War I. Lecture series from experts accompany these exhibits. The upstairs space is a gallery, highlighting the best local artists in a variety of media. The museum also runs community and family events.

One room small place could be called a museum, just a whole in the wall. 90% is Sinatra story.

Small gem of a museum. Nice gift shop. Visited the Sinatra exhibit and was not disappointed. Park at the nearby parking garage.

Well done! History of Hoboken is well presented and as a member of the Historical Society we have received "Chapbooks" which tell the story of Hoboken residents and how they came to live in the city. Very important to keep these stories alive! I have purchased two old-time photos from the museum that capture the city perfectly! Support this museum becuase it would be a shame if the stories of the city can't continue to be told!
