My favorite of all the memorials. The faces capture the shock and misery our soldiers must have felt in a way I wouldn't have thought possible given the medium. It's interesting to watch the faces of your fellow visitors when they observe this. Sometimes art is powerful enough that viewers are overwhelmed, and that's the case here. If you have ever doubted that war is hell, spending a bit of time here to pay your respects will reinforce the concept.

So after your done seeing the Lincoln Memorial. Take a 5 minute walk, over by the food stand and where all those tour buses line up, and see this memorial dedicated to the Korean War. I appreciated this for 2 reasons. First was the art involved in the "infantry Squad" approach of walking through the Jungle. Each statue has such detail. The second reason is I spent some time on the DMZ helping defend South Koreans.

The memorial looks quite impression - it has a character makes it feel like you are seeing soldiers that are actually in Korea. Very easily accessible, totally worth the walk.

The 19 stainless steel statues represent the advance party of s 14 Army, 3 Marine, 1 Navy and 1 Air Force members and they represent an ethnic cross section of America. It's something about this memorial tha makes it different. Knowing that in a short period of time more the 5 million troops sacrificed their life. During the Korean war more than 35k Service Members died, more than 8k listed as M.I.A. and more than 100k were wounded during this confict. Was this helpful? Any questions?
