A hauntingly beautiful monument to the victims of a tragic war. It's one thing to see photos, but being there, seeing every name written on the walls, it's something a review nor a photograph can describe. A definite must-see if you come to DC.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is a must see on a first trip to Washington. I was looking for someone specific, and it was difficult to figure out who to ask or how to find out. I wanted a ....something .... to read, for directions. I eventually found a man who could look up the name I was searching for - he was a bit gruff when i didn't know the exact details he wanted (State, exact date of MIA or POW or KIA). Seeing other people look for names, I wanted to know who they were looking for - family? friends? their POW bracelet name (like I was). Seeing elderly vets - in wheel chairs, walking slowly, escorted, was moving. crowded -not particularly peaceful.

The vastness of names on this memorial brings an emotional weight that can only be experienced standing here. Thank you for sacrificing your life for my freedom!

Very somber place to visit. As I was visiting the memorial, I saw a letter addressed to an uncle by a nephew who had he had never met. It was a very touching moment for me personally.

Indescribable by picture or words. You have to stand here and realize how many names are here and how touching this memorial is to all who gave our country everything. And think about all those that were lucky enough to come home.
