This is one of my favorite places in the entire United States. The peace and tranquility is uncanny. Standing underneath Mr. Jefferson and reading all of his quotes (which are all the more applicable today) just fills the soul with inspiration and awe. Sometimes, as Americans, we take it for granted that our monuments are still standing. Some people travel to Rome and see the remnants of the coliseum. Others visit the ruins of time-forgotten places with a sense of nostalgia. But our American edifices to greatness are still in their prime. And if one is hopefully in the right mindset, this is hands down, one of the best reminders of the American spirit. Take some time, stand in silence and just breathe in the history.

I love the styling and setting of this monument. One of the great thinkers and statesmen of our history. The location is probably the best for photos during the cherry blossom festival. The statue in the middle is incredible, and the quotes and inscriptions are fantastic to read. There's also a nice gift shop. They've done a nice job making the walk around the basin worth it with this memorial along with the FDR and MLK memorials as you walk around to the west and north.

Since Thomas Jefferson was the author of the Declaration of Independence, a Statesman and the visionary for our founding Nation. I really wanted to visit this. From our photo you can see that we visited more towards 8PM just before sunset. Situated away from the National Mall and on the far end of the lake. It was not too heavily trafficked. I enjoyed reading the inlaid original declarations, seeing the large bronze statue, and enjoying the silence to respect this great person for what he had done for our Nation. Definitely Check this one out!

Absolutely amazing structure, with an amazing location right next to the Tidal Basin. Especially great during cherry blossoms. It is for a reason that I picked this as the place to propose to my (now) wife.

That this landmark is set amidst a FREE, urban National Park is remarkable. Coming here is truly awe inspiring, recognizing the opinions and visions of democracy shared with a young nation...by one man. If you can come in Spring, do. The cheery blossoms are picturesque and almost storybook set against the backdrop of the Potomac and tidal basin. Set aside time to sit on the stairs and just take it all in, as well as myriad people from all walks of life, all ethnic backgrounds, all religions, ages young and old. You'll be glad you did!
