The staff was very nice but I was disappointed that we booked as Emerald Aisle guests and were not able to pick s satisfactory car. Usually we get a vehicle that is more luxurious but they picked for us and it was a decent car but not one we would've chosen. There wasn't actually an Emerald Aisle at this location as far as I could see. Disappointing but as I said the check in experience was good and drop off was simple which is always nice.

When we arrived, I had to check-in at the counter unlike many other sites I usually visit where I can drive off with a car. I was given a spot number (#51) however the car was not in the designated spot. I asked an National associate for assistance however he said that his personal car was in that #51 spot. He pointed us in a generic section to look for the car. My colleague and I walked around the whole rental car parking lot to look for our vehicle. After 15 minutes we finally found the car after pressing the panic button on the key several time. Entirely too long to look for a car when it should just be its designated space. Drop off was an faster process.

We had trouble getting National to accept the return of the car. The single attendant seemed to be preoccupied with something so we stood there in the 90 degree heat waiting. When he finally did come over he asked if we wanted a receipt. We said yes. He then walked away again leaving us standing in the parking lot. When he returned he told us his "machine" was not working so he could not give us a receipt. At this point we had had enough so we got the mileage and gas from the car and told him to please email a receipt to us. Still have not seen the receipt. Guess he got preoccupied again.

I use National Rental Car probably about once per month when I travel for work. Last week, I was in South Carolina and the temperature was 95 degrees with 100% humidity. I was two hours away from my hotel and the air conditioning on my brand new 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee broke. I couldn't even breathe in the car. I called the 1-800 number and they advised me to go to the nearest National location and trade out my car. When I got to the nearest location, the guy at the counter was not happy that I was there. He was telling me he doesn't have any cars and complaining about the person who told me to come there. Not once did he apologize for the inconvenience. After about 20 minutes of waiting, he finally quit complaining and found me an alternative car. In the end, I had a working vehicle with air conditioning, but it wouldn't be the worst thing to pep up the attitude as the air conditioning breaking was not my fault.

I am loyal National customer. Love being able to go out and grab my car and go. This vacation started off with taking my family out in the hot sun only to be told there is no Emerald Isle. Would have been nice to post a sign before I wasted my time. Also super great that my car selection was a mini-van and a kia Sol. Incredibly disappointing. The reaction at the desk was well they probably told you an email. Whatever. I'll just uber more in the future.
