My first time renting a vehicle in Baton Rouge. Being a small airport, they don't have as much car selection as larger locations. There is no "Emerald Aisle." I rented a Ford Explorer with about 1500 miles on it, and that vehicle was one of two offered to me. I had no problems and the rental was a success - nice car, nice people, efficient service!

We reserved a car for December 23, 2017 while we were in town for the holidays. When we arrived at the National office the counter was deserted even though we we got there before closing time. We ended up having to rent another car from a different company for 6 times the price so that we could see our family for the holidays. After being on hold with customer service in India for a long period of time, then talking to them on the phone for nearly an hour, we were told nothing could be done at that time of night and that a representative would contact us about making it right. No one ever did. The manager, Sarah, did provide us with a top of the line car for the second half of our trip, but she also assured us someone higher up than her would be in touch about the situation. That was a week ago and we still haven't heard from anyone. Our rental ended up costing more than our flights, through no fault of our own.

Friendly staff, but definitely not standard National Service. Emerald Executive. I do NOT want a Ford Fiesta or a Mini Van. You have the space. Why no Emerald Aisle? I like to choose my car from things I actually would drive.

I rent frequently from this location, among other National locations. Vehicle choices are usually limited here compared with what frequent National customers may be accustomed to at other airports. Twice in the last year I've gotten back in line to return vehicles because they smelled like smoke and had other issues. Last week I had a vehicle which had duct tape on the windshield and an error message on the dashboard about a collision system malfunction. There's usually a line at the booth, which makes returning back to the line to return an unacceptable vehicle rather time-consuming and frustrating. Last year I had a $250 fee appear on my bill for vehicle damage, which was a ding on the windshield which was present when I received the vehicle. The manager removed the charge, but a week later I received a letter from the Damage Recovery Unit claiming damages, which required me to make an additional phone call to resolve. (I've dealt with the Damage Recovery Unit with rentals at other airports. That's another story, and not germane to BTR, but needless to say they appear to be an outsourced service that is like a bill collection agency which does nothing to resolve disputes.) But I continue to rent from National at BTR because the wait at Avis is longer than National.

I've been renting with National for over 20 years. They always upgrade my car when possible and are always friendly and courteous. During this trip to Baton Rouge I was dropping off at the airport and the National Reps were busy in the booth when Daniel from the Enterprise counter saw that I had pulled up and no one had come to check me in yet. He took care of everything with a smile and friendly conversation. I appreciate not having to wait and his friendly professional attitude. Thank You National (and sister company Enterprise.)
