We've done business here for a long time; great people, and great service. They are geared towards the professional and the educated DIY'er.

a little higher than the web but the personal service is well worth the difference.  I have always had great service there.  One person said that they bought something and tried to return it.  I have never see anyone selling electronics that would accept returns.  Go to Walmart.  They take anything back.  On another note, My dad did business with them in the 60's - he used to fix tube TV and got the tubes there - I guess it is now and op-amp or something.  Tubes have a place as they make better sound and picture.

Eh, I think all the bad reviews are bunk. I went to Shields yesterday.  They were busy, yet took the time to talk to me about my project and made sure I had what I needed if they sold it.

To add to Glen Nelson's review/comment on their return policy. They have a ginormous white sign with bold red letters stating that they do not provide refunds, but will be happy to replace, exchange, or repair parts.

	Tagging products for a company, thats focuses on serving local commercial electronics repairmen, would be a waste of time/effort and would require that they increase their inventory prices. How would that make sense?

They have to pay upfront for all their parts, shipping, etc. and compete with online shops that don't have to pay brick-n-mortar overhead can you really them to do otherwise? Get real.

They stock a bunch of pieces of parts, mainly for telecom, A/V stuff, alarm systems, and industrial machinery, and minimal hobbyist prototyping stuff (what I was looking for). They carried enough odds and ends that I felt like my trip out there was worth it. Yes, most parts are cheaper online, however customer service and immediate availability are definitely a win.

If you need components for any sort of technical electronics project, and you need them fast, this is your place. They have anything and everything an electrical engineer, techie, or telecom electrician could ever want. The front desk is well staffed, and the employees go out of their way to help you.
