I went to the office to ask a few questions about renewing my passport, Liza asked for all my documents and got my whole application processed and ready to send off on 40minutes. I was so shocked at how seamless it was that I still can't believe how quickly I was helped. Of course it's not in their control how long SA Home Affairs department takes, but my review is based on how amazing the local service is! THANKS A MILLION!!!!

EXCELLENT SERVICE.  FRIENDLY AND VERY PROFESSIONAL STAFF.  OUR VISIT WAS FOR RESIDENCE PERMITS.  AS WITH ANY APPLICATION, IT DOES HELP IF YOU DO YOUR PART AND HAVE YOUR PAPERWORK PROPERLY COMPLETED.  YOU DO YOUR PART AND THE WHOLE PROCESS WILL BE FIRST CLASS.  Follow-on report.  We submitted our paperwork for residence permits and were interviewed on a Thursday mornings,  The following Tuesday morning, 2.5 working  days later, we had our passports back with our residence permits.  This is exceptional service!

This place is IMPOSSIBLE to get through to.  They don't answer their phone or email!!!  Horrible!

If you only attempt to call the consulate, you will have a frustrating and negative experience because they hardly seem to answer their phones. BUT if you go in person, you will have a completely different experience. My husband had to apply for a new passport because his had expired, and after we submitted his application, we did not hear a word back for months. We were getting nervous as our departure date to South Africa was quickly approaching. I suggested that my husband go to the consulate to speak to someone in person. Once there, a Mr. Abbey Makena assisted him; he was so helpful that my husband called him an angel--a direct answer to his prayers! Coincidentally, he already had my husband's documents in his hands (Mr. Makena and I had been emailing back and forth, and he happened to be looking over my husband's documents when my husband went to the consulate). Mr. Makena was able to issue an emergency travel certificate, and it looks like our trip will continue as planned!! 

Summary: GO TO THE CONSULATE IN PERSON--do not depend and hope for someone to pick up your phone call.

Very low customer service it just horrible. I called three weeks straight leaving messages never returned send emails no response. I am close to calling BBB on these people. They are horrible called exactly at 9:00 noone picks up the phone, they need to retire they no longer need their jobs for sure
