This is a great state park with some really good hiking not too far away from Atlanta. The first time we went, we stayed in a cute cabin near by and unfortunately, it was really foggy, so the views weren't as good. We came back for a day trip from Greenville this year and had great weather! Both times we did the Hurricane Falls Loop which is really awesome. There are a ton of stairs to get down and a suspension bridge to cross. You get to see two different falls on this trail. The first is before you get to the stairs and the second is at the bottom of all the stairs. After seeing the falls, you can walk back on the other side of the gorge for some more pretty views. I also recommend driving up to the scenic viewpoint. The view from above the gorge up there is amazing. There are great colors in the fall too. I definitely recommend coming here for some good hiking and great views!

This is a must see if you are if the North Georgia mountains. The trails to view the falls are in good shape and well maintained but they have an enormous amount of stairs, plan to take some brakes to get your breath back. There is a trail on both rims leading down the gorge to the falls. They are connected by a suspension bridge that goes over the gorge. After the hike, we across the street to some picnic tables overlooking Tallulah River and had lunch. It was very peaceful. We were there in February and it was not crowded at all. There is a beach, but it is small and uninviting. It was closed for the winter. I think I would skip the beach and make the long hike to a place called sliding rock where you can get in the river and slide over the rocks for what looks like a 10-15 foot gradual drop. But if you are not an avid water enthusiast, you might best skid this for a more pleasant water adventure. There is a welcome center that has a nice wildlife interpretive center that is free to view. It is worth the 15-30 minutes of time it will take to view it. There is also a 15 minute film that can be viewed at the top and bottom of every hour. You can see it all in a day, but it would take two days to casually walk on all the trails.

A few things about the Visitor Center: comfortable and beautiful. The Center not only includes the standard areas but also includes the exhibition and the museum. It has a very unusual and interesting interior. Made with talent and love! A few things about the route. This route has several overlooks from the both sides of the gorge, the suspension bridge, the waterfall and the dam. Absolutely beautiful views. We have spent more the one hour for the main route and were satisfied a lot.

Beautiful trails & tons of scenic views. Longer trails require a permit. The gorge is accessed by hundreds of stairs, so parts may be inaccessible if you have difficulty walking. There are a few views still accessible. The campgrounds were extremely well- maintained.

The gorge and trails are beautiful. Four waterfalls if you can hike steps. A good interpretive center with picnic tables. Bring a picnic or eat at a local restaurant on your drive home. Be ready for a curvey drive. Camping is available.
