Beautiful and Peaceful!!! We camped here on several occasions and love it. The staff are friendly. The areas are kept clean. There is all kinds of wildlife to see and let's not forget the lake. Camping you have a seperate section than everyone else with a code to get in. This area has lake access, a playground/workout area, bathrooms, laundry and plenty of walking area. We love Don Carter and we for sure visit again soon!

A decent park! I'm more of a mountain man than a lake person so it's not my absolute favorite, but that's really just a personal preference. The trails are clean and well kept, and the visitors center is excellent! I can't wait to check out the cottages on property.

Trails are very nice and long, fitness zones on the sides of roads by campsites with varieties of different fitness machines. The play grounds are also very fun! This park is for all ages, and doesn't disappoint!

Georgia's newest state park is well maintained and has great facilities. I can't wait to return in the summer and utilize the beach! Camping prices seem steep, unfortunately.

We just bought our first travel trailer / camper and spent our first weekend out in it at Don Carter. What a great choice! We found and had a nice level secluded campsite. Though we only used them once, the bathrooms were spacious and clean. The trails ranged from paved pathways to rugged trails. The boat ramp is wonderful. The staff was SUPER friendly and helpful. Our only complaint would be that when we arrived, it was apparent someone put out empty tents in the best spots to hold them for others. Later when hiking we noticed each of those sites had rigs that had come in. Doesnt seem very respectful, considerate, or in the spirit of things but I guess this sort of thing is allowed.
