One of the hidden gems of New York City. It mostly houses artifacts from the medieval period of Europe but it's atmosphere and environment is a breath of fresh air from all the modern buildings of Manhattan. It's pretty far up north and a bit out of the way compared to the other museums the city has to offer But those who choose to go here won't regret here. Tip: It's free for Columbia students

Beautiful setting and collection. The grounds are amazing and so well tended. It is a bit further than other Manhattan museums but worth the trip. A perfect jewel of a museum.

Very cool museum of mideval art, objects, and architecture. It has things from 1000-1800 and it is interesting watching the styles and sophistication change over the years. There is a fair amount of ambiguity in some of the pieces, it's tough to be sure about the specifics of some of the exhibits. I really liked the tapestries of the unicorns and the playing cards. The museum asks for donations but you do not need to pay to enter if money is tight. Enough stuff to see for an afternoon.

It is awesome. You become a time traveler and you can see and feel the spirit of each artist. You also meet so many wonderful people who are of like minds. And, of course. I have nothing but praise for every employee. They are all warm, welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. It is always hard for me to leave. The MET Cloisters is a definite must visit. They even have a gift shop that will surely have something for you.

Worth the hike. A stunning castle filler with Medieval art and artifacts right in Manhattan. Not nearly as crowded as a lot of museums. It's an extension of The Metropolitan Museum so entrance is still donation based.
