Worst experience of my life!!!  This place will rip you off! I rented a vehicle from them paid cash up front turns out the vehicle they gave me had an expired tag, the tag has been expired for a year! I told the manager I need a  Reliable SUV for road trip to California, the vehicle I got from them broke down on me two days into my Vacation. I had to pay out of my own pocket to get the vehicle back to Colorado and when I came in to the office to speak to them and try to get a refund they blow me off they wouldn't give me any of my money back not even  My deposit. When I asked to speak to the owner they wouldn't let me, they didn't do anything about the car breaking down on me, but the worst part is the vehicle they gave me wasn't even  Legal to be driven around in since the tags have been expired. I know I should of double checked everything but I put my trust in this company and they  Completely screwed me over!!! STAY AWAY!!! STAY AWAY!!! STAY AWAY!!! worst  Experience of my life!!!

WARNING! Owner is a scam artist! He will continue to attemp to charge your card more than the agreed price and add fraudulent charges every month thereafter. Do NOT do business with this shoddy place

Please do not go here. No matter what.

This was my only option because I was under 25. I gave it a shot and he charged me upfront for over $1250.   $250 was deposit and $250 was for their insurance although I had my own insurance and sent him the information he needed immediately. He said he had to verify it and would take a day or two to return my money. I am writing this 3 weeks later and am yet to receive it or the refundable deposit. That is only the start...
Sam rented me a Ford Fiesta that he ensured was inspected. It was not.  I got a ticket my first night because of a bad tail light. I also noticed once I got several hours down the road that the back window would not roll up... I had 2 more weeks with the problem. It gets much much worse.  After a few days, I spent the night in Yellowstone and when I woke up the car would not make it out of first gear. I was stranded and had to walk to find service where I called him for help. He told me to have it towed and he would give full refund for the $1250 plus towing. I did so based on good faith. Turns out, it was a transmission issue and was unrepairable during my trip. I lost 2 days out of my two weeks of vacation because I had to ride 3 hours to the closest mechanic. There was another $300 for towing. I am writing this 3 weeks after my first encounter with Sam. I have pleaded with him nearly every day after having it towed and he first told me that the "manager" needs to talk with me in order to return my money. I have yet to speak with the manager and Sam will not tell me his/her name or number. He will not refund the full amount he promised plus towing or even the deposit and insurance, which I most definitely have. Now, he will not answer or return my calls. 

Bottom line, I am back in Denver today. I am going first to the police, second the scc, and third my lawyer. Sam is not only a bad business but a criminal. 

Save yourself and do not go here no matter what.

This place is not worthy of any stars, but I have to check one to post this...It is my first time in Denver and I was having issues renting a car with a more reputable car rental service so an employee at budget suggested this "mom and pop" shop called A1 rent a car. They except cash, so it sounded like a good option. From the moment we arrived I felt uncomfortable. This shop is located in a bar part of denver off of E. Colfax. When we pulled up it looked like one of those shanty car salesman lots with beat down cars and the office looked like a rundown gas station. When we walked in the man standing behind the desk was not friendly or helpful. He tried to over charge me from the beginning 225$ for 2 days not including the 250$ deposit. Another employee pulled the car rental around. It was an older Hyundai Elantra. To describe the car it was a nightmare. The door handles were broken, the tint was peeling off, it smelled musty and it was completely filthy. This car had obviously not been taken care of ever. Once we pulled off the lot the car made the most awful noise, we were sure this car would not be able to make a long trip. I immediately pulled right back in after driving around the block. I walked in told the man behind the desk that this car was unacceptable for the price and that I wanted my money back. He then offered me another car. I said no. He went to refund my money and could not remember the amount I had just given him. The vibe was very eery. I then asked him when the deposit would be be put back onto my card. He said immediately. It did not. I called several hours later to ask about the deposit. He was incredibly rude and unprofessional. He said he was not sure when he deposit would go through and hung up on me. This place is a sad excuse for a business. Save your self some money, time and emotional distress and do not do business here. It truly saddens me that a person could take kind people's money with no remorse. I am excited for the rest of the trip but this horrible experience will stick out in my mind when I think about Denver.
