We stayed two nights while staying in South Lake Tahoe and LOVED the quaint and cozy Alder Inn! It's location is perfect! They provide bicycles for use during your stay, and there are tons of restaurants, coffee shops, bars, stores, etc within a short bike ride! We took advantage of this and biked to breakfast in the morning and around the lake. They also have tons of family orientated activities (such as ping pong, horseshoes, basketball, pool, hot tub, etc) as well as outdoor seating and fire tables throughout. The grills would also be great for a family or longer stay, but we were not there long enough to take advantage of everything they had to offer. The owner and staff really care about their guests' experience and it shows! We will definitely be staying here again!

Love this place, was in and out of Tahoe two dozen times this year and stayed at half a dozen hotels. Alder inn is the best, by far, and I've been back probably 10 times now. I'd happily pay double to stay there again. The amenities beat everything else on the mountain, rates are perfectly average, rooms are super clean, WiFi is rock solid and the staff is so friendly and personable. Walking distance to food and the harbor/beach. Bike riding distance to most all of South Lake (hotel stay includes a bike if you choose!) Pool is heated. Dunno what else you could want.

The absolute best! So welcoming. We've called last minute and they have not only accommodated us but when we arrived super late our light and HEATER was turned on and our room all warm and cozy! Love them and would recommend for all kinds of travel!

Very charming, quiet and clean place to stay with at an affordable price! My son and I stayed in a downstairs unit which had 2, queen size beds. The room was very clean-beds in great condition with plenty of pillows. The surroundings were typical of Lake Tahoe-tall, green redwood trees gave plenty of shade, plus there were many flowers and a small rock garden in the front which added to the aesthetics. After arriving late, we easily found our envelope clearly marked with our name and having the key inside. Upon opening the door, we were greeted to a welcome basket and teddy bear on each bed. I also quickly noticed just how quite and very tranquil setting we had. This is definitely a beautiful place for any couple or family that wants to enjoy the beauty of Tahoe at a very reasonable price. Plus you are very close to many of the activities of South Shore Tahoe. Highly recommended.

We spent one night at the Alder and we were so comfortable we booked a second night and drove a bit out of our way to stay with them on our return trip. Everyone there was very helpful and super accommodating. The room are clean, comfortable and quite. I've got back issues and the beds were really solid. I slept like a baby. I'd highly recommend the Alder Inn.
