I enjoy trips here more than to the Grand Canyon. Be careful about leaving your car unattended. Some in the area are known to be a little light-fingered. But most of the folks you'll meet are really nice. Remember that the altitude is pretty high, and can wear you down if you are from lower country. Bring good binoculars so you can see the old cliff dwellings in the canyon walls.

Canyon de Chelly , is a beautiful place to visit ! After we left the Canyon we headed to Canyon de Chelly , which is about an 2 hour dive , We drove straight to the White House overlook / White House trail which I loved the trail , it’s about 2.5 miles in and out , took us about 2 hours , the trail is amazing , I saw little kids walking back up , very easy trail. We came here in late January which it was very cold and the wind was really blowing , but it was worth it , there are signs everywhere about not keeping anything valuable in your car or visible , but we didn’t have any problems , we put everything in out trunk , we really enjoyed the hike and the views , the White House at the end , they also have different trails , but you need a guide. They also have Jeep tours , horseback rides , but we love to hike so we hiked down the canyon to the bottom to the whole house , a must do !!

This ended up being better than I expected. My boys, 3 under 6, were able to hike down to ruins. The ages in our group ranged from 2 to 72 and everyone has a good time. Don't forget to grab your Junior Ranger packet at the park building. Completing the fun requirements earns the kids a discount in the gift shop.

Went here because my wife is a big Louis L'amour fan and he writes a bunch of Western novels which include Canyon de Chelly as part of the stories. Wasn't planning on being too excited but after going through the north and south ridges, I was very impressed. Plenty of photo opportunities with beautiful scenery. Definitely worth the visit.....just don't get too close to the cliffs.

Cool views of the canyons and a nice hike down to the White House ruins. I wish they had more signs up about the history of the ruins and markings of where to look for them. There are only a few little view finders for maybe 7 or 8 of the many ruins found in the canyon
