Canyon Lake Resort is a family owned and operated lodge, motel and cabins. Located in Rapid City, SD, on the edge of Canyon Lake, guests can enjoy an evening roasting s'mores by the fire pit, complimentary paddleboat rides and a quick dip in our outdoor pool.

Located on the southwest edge of Rapid City, there is easy access to bike trails, fishing and is only minutes from downtown. Canyon Lake Resort is great for family reunions with 11 motel rooms, 10 cabins, and a 5-bedroom lodge complete with game room.

I attended a wedding here. The furniture is dated but comfortable. The rooms were freezing.

First room was Lot smaller than some images online. A little outdated. Facet was YUCK. Had to clean it out to keep it from spraying all over. Motel only has 1 Room Option fyi. Ended up switching rooms to add on 2 more days. Lake facing room was much nicer. Newer cleaner facet too. The view at this motel is the best in town . Paddle boating was fun. Management was nice and helpful.

I've only visited the common areas, outdoors, but I think it's a great location for someone visiting the black hills. Close enough to Rapid City to be convenient to food and night life, but just far enough away to offer scenic views and a country feel.

Very beautiful area.  Great location.  Nice because you're on the end of town but still close enough to town.  Reasonably priced.  It was quiet.  Peaceful. The staff are very friendly and helpful.  Walking trail.  Free paddle boat rides.  Small pool (they supply towels) w/ comfortable seating.  You can relax w/ a drink/snacks while the kids swim.  We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin.  Like a small apartment.  Large fridge, small gas stove, microwave, dishes, dish soap, towels, fully furnished.  Now...I hate to sound negative or picky, but I do have to say the inside of the cabin is very dated.  Carpet is stained.  Furniture seemed old.  It was clean but as I looked closer I found crumbs along the wall, a band-aid in our bedroom on the floor that wasn't ours, and a small bar of used soap left in the shower from previous people.  Gross!  There is an air conditioning unit in the living room so the bedrooms can get just a lil stuffy.  You have your own propane grill (we didn't take advantage of this unfortunately), your own picnic table, 2 chairs (our neighbors brought their own & looked comfy/relaxed).  It really is a nice resort aside from my complaints about the cleanliness and it being very dated.  We really weren't in the cabin much as we were out site seeing & taking advantage of all the cool things to do in Rapid City & surrounding areas.

Canyon Lake Resort is located a few minutes from downtown Rapid City. It sits next to Canyon Lake and is a quiet, peaceful location. The 2 bedroom cabin was clean and the kitchen was stocked with everything to enjoy a meal. Staff was great and was able to answer any Great questions we had about the area.It was a great place to stay.
