Like any chain pharmacist in the United States, this place is garish and an insult to aiding the health of the populace — mental or physical. Laden with junkfood, needless disposable plastic sundries, unjustifiably loud self-checkout machines that bark at their users.

Back in the early 1970s when I lived in Washington I spent a lot of time at the old People's Drug Store, now renamed CVS, at this same location. At that time there was a popular lunch counter in the back, where You could have a sandwich, hamburger a milkshake or Coca-Cola, etc. Here I once sat next to a young Caroline Kennedy, who was eating with a friend. I never liked the name CVS, and I miss the old People's Drug Stores. The luncheon counters were stopped many years ago. This CVS drug store is OK for Georgetown, and it has a pharmacy area, along with photo developing and Western Union services, sodas, potato chips, cosmetics, shampoos, contact lens solutions and cleaning items, along with just about everything else including dog and cat food. There is a parking lot in the back.

My daughter is in college and needed medication urgently for her pharyngitis. I was desperate for her to get it immediately as she had exams on Monday and had to feel better. I called the pharmacy and a pharmacist by name Wyobeng went out of the way to help my daughter get the medication on time. He was very courteous, professional in his approach. Thank God for people like him. They make the world a better place to live - Esther
