I live in Columbus and I booked a car for the day to drive out of town.  On the upside, the rate was cheap and the location accepts debit cards for rentals (a steep deposit is required).  I also got a ten dollar upgrade from a Camry to a tricked-out brand-new Chrysler 300.  On the downside, there are a lot of fees that quickly jack up the rate quoted.  Airport locations can't pick up/drop off passengers.  My car had this annoying gunk in the middle of the windshield when I picked it up.  And if you return a car a little late, they're pretty unforgiving; I essentially paid for a second day even though I was only 90 minutes late.  I recommend if you're flying in or can get a good rate for the day you want, but be sure to play by their rules and bring the car back gassed up and on time or else there may be hell to pay.

Car was nice but the service was poor. When I checked in the guy made it sound like I had to get the insurance.  I was exhausted after my flight and just went with it.  Come to find out it's optional.  When I explained that when I dropped off (letting them know they should present it on a different way to customers) all they said was "you signed the paperwork and we can't do anything about it".  Just make sure they don't take advantage of you, especially when your exhausted after a long flight!

We have rented a car at various airports in southeastern US at least ten times this year, and we have never had such a terrible experience as this "Hertz" location at Columbus Ohio airport.  
We booked a car online for $140.  My boyfriend just picked up the car and they forced him to get their insurance at $20/day, nearly doubling his cost for the rental car.  I called to speak with a manager, who was a huge prick and could not deem to provide any sympathy or information other than "You have to call us."  Apparently they're a privately owned "Hertz" rental location, and can just make up their own rules and not bother telling any customer about their special rules when the reservation is made, which basically forces you to pay DOUBLE what you expected when you pick the car up - unless you want to wait in line forever at another rental.  
Will NEVER ever never use Hertz again, especially this location.  Based on the number of bad reviews I've seen on them now that I've looked (clearly should have looked before we booked), it's in Hertz's best interest to fire them as a representative of their brand.  We used Hertz earlier this year out of another airport and they were just fine.  Sadly, I can't risk running into another "privately owned" location like this one so we will never be renting from Hertz again.

I'm being told I damaged a vehicle that I did not damage. Hertz hires a third party company PurCo to handle the claims. There is no proof of damage, and no way resolve things with Hertz. Very poor experience. I turned in the car and had it checked over, and now three months later I am getting a letter saying I owe $217.75. Total scam.

If i could, i wouldn't even give them one star. The staff was so rude, and i found drugs in my rental car. I went back to give the car back and told them what happened, they didn't even react to what i was saying, no apology no nothing. They endangered my life, because if a cop were to pull me over i would be the one in trouble. They should really inspect their vehicles before renting them out. I went to get a car from Dollar Rental Cars, who had a much friendlier staff and very clean vehicles.
