Definitely the worst car rental scenario I've ever experienced. I was treated rudely by the one staff member behind the desk and ended up canceling my entire reservation as a result. I would rather wait another day and get a car with a different company vs. supporting this branch / location in any way. Truly unbelievable.

This is not a good location to rent from. There was no person at the rental counter, and it sounds like this is a typical issue. I had to go all the way to Union Station to pick up my car despite my reservation already made. They did give me a discount for the trouble after I complained, however, they also gave me a car with nearly no fuel. When I returned the car to this location, again, there was no person. You just drop the keys off! How do they verify there is no damage to the car when I returned it? What if someone steals it? Ridiculous!

Quite possibly the worst car rental place I have ever come across. I wish I had read the reviews from other customers as our experience was similar.

We reserved a full size car online from this location, rather than from Union Station. What a mistake. When we got to the office (located in the Double Tree Hilton) the guy working there was asleep at the desk. He then said he couldn't find our reservation. When I showed him the confirmation he said that they only had a compact car (we had booked a full size car) and would that be okay. Of course it wasn't as we had booked a particular size of car for our size of family. The member of staff said that there was nothing they could do. 

He said that he called the union street station hertz office and they did have a car of the correct size, but they could not bring it over and it would not be possible for me to pick it up from Union Station. When we finally got to speak to a helpful member of staff at the Union Station location this was contradicted, but it was by that time 4.45pm and they were closing so would not give enough time to get over and complete the paperwork. My overall impression was that the Double Tree Hertz member of staff simply couldn't be bothered and wanted to avoid any paperwork close to the end of his shift. 

In the end we had to book a replacement car from Enterprise (who are open until 6pm weekdays downtown) who were very helpful. However, we ended up having to spend significantly more money to book on the day, wasted a few hours and about $30 in taxi fares rushing from one place to another, all with a sick baby and two other children in tow. No apology or help from the staff member at the location and he seemed not really to want to help to resolve the situation as he said his personal time was about to start (we got there about 3.15pm and they close at 5pm). 

As a side note, this hertz office is located within the Double Tree Hilton. We had stayed there the previous week and the Hilton staff were very nice and helpful. Particularly the concierge, who brought toys for my children and some cookies while I went off for an hour to pick up the replacement car. He also looked after the children and our bags while my wife went to the restroom. I understand Hertz simply rent the space from Double Tree, but it is a disgrace to the hotel brand to have such a sloppy service. They would be better arranging for their clients to go to union station, or to have a rental company deliver cars when required.

Terrible car rental! Worst car rental company! booked a car online for sat but no one in the office. Wasted 2.5 hours waiting while looking elsewhere car rental. We ended up taking taxi. Super disappointed.  Don't ever come to this place.

This Hertz is literally in a closet, and the guy who works there is extremely rude. You're better off going down to Central Station down the road and using one of the rental car places there. There is a Hertz there that I ended up using that is much better.
