This first is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. To walk through this first is like living in a dream. The trees are hundreds of feet high (Avenue of the Giants). Many walking paths and hiking trails adds to the special beauty. Please take your best camera! The locals are very creative with wood (they live in a world class Forest). You might find a very special gift for yourself or someone special at one of the stores in the area. On that note, one of the trees in this park is so large that there is a store in the hollowed out trunk interior (some of these giant trees get honored out by natural fires. Many of these trees are so huge they actually suppress fire and survive.

Went temp camping here for 2 nights and had a blast. We stayed in the Hidden Springs campground and while there is a lot of steep terrain, were able to find 2 spots together for 2 large families. Before reserving, I called the ranger station there after hours expecting to leave a message, but got a ranger! He was very helpful and knowledgeable about the sites and helped us pick out suitable sites. It was peaceful with dense forest, a river very nearby, and clean restrooms (with showers)! Would definitely visit again.

Unreal. This place is beyond words. Amazing, beautiful, awesome, etc. There are fantastic hikes for everyone from young kids and elderly folks, to the more experienced hiker. I'm a more experienced hiker and I enjoyed every path we hiked in Humboldt. The easy hikes are vast enough to make you feel isolated and small. The air smells amazing and the scenery is indescribable. We met hikers from all over the world! Hiking and trails are free, so this is a destination that anyone can enjoy. Many of the trails are even doable for those with disabilities. Go here. Spend several days. You won't regret it. You will never want to leave.

28 miles of jaw dropping beauty. One can never tire of ambling along underneath these 1000 plus year old trees. It's absolutely primeval.

Ever wondered how it is to drive through miles and miles of trees that cover the sky with the sun peeking through?? Ave of the Giants aka Humboldt Redwoods state park is the one for you. So you can either start from the south or north! Depending on what way you would like to continue! I started from the north side and made my way down south! Now a few things! When you start, you probably don't where to go but conveniently they have placed maps at the beginning of each location! So matter north or south, you will have a chance to get a map! They are in a small box so no, there won't be any neon signs showing MAPS. After that there will be a couple landmarks you can visit. Everything is free with the exception of the drive thru tree. This is a tree that you can drive through after paying 5 or 10 bucks. Now keep in mind the reason they charge is that this little nifty thing is privately owned. For those of you interested it will be south end of ave of the giants. Now the place where I would recommend to go to is the big tree. It's this extremely massive tree with the biggest circumference in California! Enjoy this tree and make sure to visit it and the trails around it as there are beautiful trees that have fallen over with massive roots! Take your time when you drive and if there are people behind you , just pull over and let them pass so you can enjoy the drive!
