When I left the rental lot I noticed the inside window had a film on it that gave the appearance of fog outside especially with direct sunlight.  I had to wipe that off to see better.  I also discovered a unused cigarette and old French fry laying on the floor between the driver seat and center console.  The cigarette was easily visible and picked up from my passenger in the back seat.  Vehicle drove nice and the staff were nice and  courteous but interior cleaning was very poor.

When I arrived at the airport to pick-up my rental, there were only two vehicles in the emerald aisle. I chose the small
SUV (which was a Nissan Rogue). When I got in it, it smelled smoky, but I didn’t have other choices and decided to take it anyway. I did my best to clear the smoke odor from the car overnight. It was tolerable for the weekend. The Rogue was a great rental for my trip. When I returned the car, I pulled forward to the last car in the second lane.  Cars that arrived after me but went around others and pulled forward were checked in ahead of me, even though I was standing by my car, when the others pulled in. Patiently, I waited to check in.  The guy handed me the receipt and it was 6x the rental agreement cost. So, I went to the National Rental counter, told them that I was an emerald aisle member and inquired about the charge. The ladies at the desk were kind and said that the charge was incorrect and proceeded to work on the computer. They told me that I had not done anything wrong and that the reservation was not linked to the rental.  It took them several minutes, but they seemed to have corrected the charge on the printout they provided.  Hopefully the correct charge will also be reflected on my credit card bill.  I like the concept of the emerald aisle at National, and I have rented from different locations through National.  However, I think from my experience this weekend that there could be improvements at the Memphis location.

I have rented cars in many cities, and two places always stand out for me.  In Honolulu and Memphis I find kind and helpful attendants who always go out of their way to greet me with a smile and an offer of help. Most recently, I had paid for an upgrade in Memphis for a family visit, but the right type of vehicle wasn’t on the Emerald Aisle. A friendly young lady helped me immediately solve the problem, and I was on my way without any delay!  Thank you, Memphis!

My first experience with National Car Rental was 5 STARS! After being a long and loyal customer of Hertz I was motivated to switch because of poor customer service. I had been told by my peers that National was the better way but I just did not want to do all of the administrative work necessary to change companies. Well...I am SUPER GLAD I DID!!! If you have debated about moving to National stop debating and move on over. It truly was a good experience. The Emerald club is very rewarding and the price of a similar car is less expensive. The best thing is that you get to pick which car you want to drive.
Thank you National for making my switch very valuable. :)

I am typically always satisfied with National Rental Car. Being an Emerald club member, you can just walk in, choose your car and head to the booth. Easy peezy!! This time I rented a GMA Acadia and it only had 145 miles on it basically brand new ride. i paid mid size price to drive such an amazing car. THANK YOU SO MUCH NATIONAL FOR ALL THAT YOU DO!
