Story

Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this RV Park is just a short drive from Shenandoah National Park with its diverse hiking trails and breathtaking views. Nearby, you can explore several underground caverns with their natural wonders and unique formations or tour several wineries showcasing some of the best wine Virginia has to offer. Spend some time immersed in history by visiting Montpelier, Monticello or the Civil War Trails. Or just kick back and relax on one of our shady sites and enjoy the wireless Internet and cable TV. Try your hand at catch-and-release fishing or the Jumping Pillow (fun for all ages). Don't miss the chance to try the campground's specialty: bison meat. It's healthy, low fat and tastes great.

I stayed here for 2 months and I think I was setup on the worst site they had. Aside from the utility layout, the site being nowhere near level, and there being no wifi (other than 3rd party fee) it was a nice place. It is heavily wooded so it is nicely shaded. It was very quiet and all of the staff was wonderful to deal with. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area. Most of the sites looked much better than mine but I was there by myself just to sleep and shower in my camper as I was not vacationing so I didn't really care too much. There is little to no pavement beyond the camp office/store so it can get a little muddy on some sites if there's a lot of rain, which there was while I was there but my site, I guess being so unlevel, drained well and had plenty of leaves. The utilities, including the sewer clean out, was positioned at the road but there were only a few sites that were situated that way. They have a nice little laundry facility and store. They also have a game room, swimming pool, and playground that they are very proud of. The facilities are well taken care of and they were all very accommodating. So do not let the negative reviews scare you away. I was pleased with my stay.

My husband, myself our border collie and a weiramer stayed here most of the summer until November. We love love LOVE it here. Sandi and Bob plus staff are amazing people. They did everything to ensure our stay was pleasant and made us part of the family. Gated community and safe. No they don't allow rule breakers and large parties but you can camp and enjoy yourselves in comfort. When we go back to Virginia we will definitely stop at Shenandoah hills campground...a home away from home.

I stayed at the campground for the month of July. Loved it! Nice quiet wooded setting, campfire rings and picnic table at each site. Only about 35 minutes from Shenandoah NP too. There was a fantastic pancake breakfast one weekend (biscuits and gravy, pancakes, eggs if you don't like the other items, juice, coffee, thick sliced bacon, and two types of sausage). Can't beat it for $5. There was an ice cream social also and they had hay/wagon rides on the holiday weekend. Super nice people here. The bad reviews seem to be the people who don't read the rules or read them, and then decide to ignore them. All campgrounds have rules, people! Most are for insurance and safety purposes. Sadly, common sense is lacking these days. And to be allowed to leave a review based on an impression without even camping here is just ridiculous. Love this place and I WILL be back!

A few weeks ago I was riding my motorcycle across the fine state of Virginia when I needed to stop briefly to send a text message. I pulled off the interstate into the parking lot off what appeared to be a nice quaint camp ground. I was in the parking lot for less than a minute and putting my gloves back on when a older lady came out of a nearby house. I politely said I was fine just needed to check my phone (I assumed she was asking if I needed directions, was checking in, etc) she kept walking towards me and talking so I turned my music off so I could hear her. She asked my if I normally checked my phone in camp grounds and told me there was a gas station nearby. Now I want to mention that my motorcycle has the stock exhaust and is extremely quiet, no louder than a normal car. Also I was in a parking lot no where near the camping area. I told her I was very sorry to have disturbed her day and left. On my way out I noticed the gas station she mentioned which was on the other side of the interstate... I can't remember ever being treated so rudely by a stranger, especially someone in the hospitality business. I highly recommend taking your business somewhere else especially if you are on a motorcycle.
