My family and I have been staying at the SpringHill at 901 Atlantic Ave, VA Beach since it opened. We used to live in the area and did stay-cations and we go back 1 to 2 times a year (summer & winter) for a beach getaway. The hotel is in need of serious attention! I understand that a beach hotel has certain unique challenges, but cleanliness and attention to small details should not suffer. Let me give the pros: Great staff, everyone is generally friendly from the front desk to housekeeping. The lobby is nice and the breakfast is wonderful. Needless to say the view is gorgeous since you're looking over the ocean. The cons: No pillows on one of the beds, an empty toilet paper roll in the bathroom, toilet paper in the toilet (un-flushed), paper on the floor in the room, broken sliding door that fell apart every time it was opened and let in an extreme amount of cold air during the time we were there. More cons: The hot tub was not hot, the indoor pool was so cold not even small children would attempt to get into it. There was trash on the floor of the pool room (bottle caps, band aid). There was gum stuck into the corner of the hot tub and the scum/grim/filth around the edges of the hot tube was downright disgusting! I tried to call the front desk to see if they could turn up the heater on the tub but the phone did not work and was pulled away from the wall. God forbid there was an actual emergency in the pool room--it would require a individual to run to the front desk for assistance. The pool room maintenance door looks like someone took grease and covered the door with it (not a pleasant sight to look at when trying to relax) and the wall clock was stuck at 7:40 the entire time we were in the hotel. I'm sure the battery could have been changed in under a minute. Also, the hot tub timer does not shut off--it runs continuously. Finally the elevators were full of trash on the floors for two days before they were cleaned up. I have to say, this was the most disappointing stay we have ever had at this property. My wife and I had saved up our Marriott points especially for this getaway as she is battling some health issues. What a disappointment and waste of almost 80,000 points! If we could do it again, the SpringHill would not be our first choice. Hopefully management can address these issues and make the necessary changes.

I'd say the only good thing about this stay was the balcony and view. They had queen size sheets on our king sized bed the first night, every single time you moved the bare mattress was exposed. Needless to say, it was a sleepless first night. Awoke to find that apparently only 1 broiler is working so showers were lukewarm at best. The hotub is broken, the dial to the jets doesn't work, and it was also very cold. I'd also like to point out that we are platinum members and were not once offered an upgrade. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The location of the hotel is superb. Looking out at the ocean at night, listening to the crashing waves is calming and spiritual. The rooms are a bit colorful compared to the traditional hotel room. The carpet with flowers and the decorations are very flamboyant. The service was great too. We had a birthday party and the workers put our ice cream in a freezer for just being there. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

About twice a month I stay here and it's always an enjoyable stay. Couldn't ask for much more really. Awesome hotel! Must try it if you haven't already.

Springhill suites is a very nice hotel. The staff were very nice and helpful. They called the room to assure everything was up to par. Our room has a balcony that oversees the beach and boardwalk. During Christmas holidays, there were lights along the boardwalk, which was beautiful. This is our first night and I plan to enjoy the remainder of my time.
