We went to lunch late on Mother’s Day to avoid the rush. We sat at the table by the service door so there was a lot of traffic around our Table. Our waitress was not friendly and it took a long time to get our food. When our food did come it was cold. I have been going to village tavern for years and have never had an bad experience but this was not the Mother’s Day meal I was expecting at all. I told my waitress and she said they could remake my food but it took so long to get it I didn’t want to wait again for something that should be served hot in the first place. After I told our waitress about the food she brought our check and we didn’t see her again. Another server picked up our bill and cashed us out.

The entrance is right next to the bathrooms which should have been the first indicator as to how the rest of our experience would turn out. They tried to sit us outside in a tented area that was overrun with bugs. Asked to wait to sit inside. Finally sat down in a tiny area. Waitress was incredibly rude. Ordered drinks. Beer was warm and cocktail was made incorrectly. The restaurant itself is old and dirty. Carpet was covered in food and looked like no one ever cleans it. Tried to give the place a fair chance so we ordered entrees. All of the chicken came out RAW. We ended up just getting up and walking out. No one even noticed. Worst restaurant experience. I’m not sure how it has the ratings that it does. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE.

Able to have lunch after 3p & at a nice place. This location, Reynolda Village, has character. While the actual restaurant is small there is a nice large heated & enclosed dining area. I had a sandwich which was quite satisfactory --- good bread --- but would not necessarily go back for it. I do like their taco salad. This is a nice casual place.

This is the only location I like-- the original, and much more laid back. It's good for lunch or dinner, and a nice walk to the Wake Forest Campus. Beautiful setting and consistently good food.
