Called the dollar rent a car number for this location to book a full sized SUV. We specifically asked for confirmation that they would allow us to drive the vehicle to Mexico. Got not only confirmation that it was OK, but also a quote for the Mexican insurance itself. 

Great, we should be good to go then, right?

Nope. Get to the actual booth, SUV sitting right there, and the agent says no, SUVs are never allowed into Mexico. 

The manger said the same thing. Apparently the phone reservation people are lying to customers. 

Now I’m stranded. 6 person research crew with all of our equipment stranded at an airport.

The car I reserved was ready and waiting when we arrived. The person at the desk tried very hard to convince me that my auto insurance would not going to cover my rental and that I needed to buy insurance. Everything was fine until I returned the car. I was barely out of the car when the attendant was in the car getting information, I had not yet had time to gather my belongings in the back seat. We left an electronic device in the car. There is not doubt, I know exactly where it was. I filed a lost and found report the next day and a week later, no one has found my device. I have sent emails and made phone calls and can not get a return phone call. I understand that it is my fault that I left it in the car, but I had hoped that there was enough honesty and courtesy at Dollar Rent a Car that someone would care enough to help get it back to me.

Very accommodating and understanding of my changing schedule and needs. Dollar is always prompt, attentive and friendly when it comes to customer service; and of course, the rental vehicles are always clean and in great running condition.

Not sure if Jacob was just having a bad day, but the service was not good. I told him I had full coverage with my insurance and still charge me for there's. When I said no again I was using my and said the insurance will be removed when I came back. Well guess what is wasnt. Not only that the car I rented and alot Of dings and skratches. I went to to inform Jacob and maybe he didnt hear Me right but all he said is i would be held liable since I didnt buy full coverage. (Keep in mind I havent even step into the car while still in the structure.) I was so fed up And angry. I was ready to just say screw it and just try to get my money back. Thankfully there was a nice lady from hertz and she helped me and explain how I can use my receipt to mark all the marks. On the car. So bottom line,  I got. Charge for using my own insurance, I got a crappy car and I now know order from HERTZ! Oh yeah and didnt honor my AAA discount which online. Reservations says to show
