The hallmark of good management is that when more people suddenly appear than can be served those not usually behind the counter pitch in to make things go smoothly with each client. That is what happened at the Murray Boulevard Enterprise store when I walked in.

Nobody grumbled about those who appeared with me.  One guy behind me was a regular. The manager addressed him by name, had paperwork ready, got the requisite signature, and handed him his car keys. He was in and out in 2 minutes. 

I'm not a regular renter. It took the  employee about 3 or 4 minutes to get to the point of giving me the keys. I'm 6'5" tall and weigh more than most people. While I'm upfront about it, not everyone is. When a I made a lame joke about not wanting to be stuffed into a small car, the employee laughed with me - not at me - and got me a suitably sized car.

Would I rent from Enterprise again? Yep.

Update from my last post.  I went here late Thursday evening I had reserved a full size car.  I was driving several people on a business trip.  All they had or so they told me was the smaller sized car.  I did see several full size cars in the lot, but I guess they were for people more important since I was not offered one.  It was a very uncomfortable trip with all the people.  I think I will go to a different place next time.  Hopefully they will have the car I need when I need it.

I waited 20 minutes at the body shop that's not even 0.25 miles from enterprise for them to pick me up only to have the body shop drop me off. The service rep was polite and friendly but tried to sell me extra coverage outside in the rain. I didn't buy it and he told me he thinks that there is a 10% chance every time someone hits the road they will get in an accident that results in property damage. They then let me drive off in a car with the gas light on. Not a fun experience.

I am only giving 3 stars because my experiences at this location have been very inconsistent. I rent cars for work trips back and forth between Portland and Seattle. There have been a few experiences that have been lovely, where I received quick service, friendly staff, clean/ safe nice rental car selections. My last 2 rentals have not been this way. I have had to wait 15-20 min to either pick up my rental or drop off the rental. This is frustrating when you make an appointment to pick up your rental and are delayed that amount of time. The last two trips I also received pretty terrible cars. (Horrid smells, obviously been smoked in, chipped windshields, climate control didn't work, no blue tooth (after I specifically asked to make sure the car was equipped with BT) And finally my biggest complaint was the gentleman who set me up with the last rental. I felt like he interrogated me about buying their additional insurance, he wouldn't let it go.... after asking me what my deductible was, who my employer was, what their rules were around renting cars etc.... way too much! It crossed the line to an unprofessional level.

I visited this store twice during my lengthy rental experience. The first time they ran out of the appropriate vehicle and I was stuck with something I didn't want. This was aggregating as I had a scheduled pick up date and time and numerous people in front of me inline did not. The second time I went in for a swap out of a vehicle and I received resistance in the form of a policy stating that there can only be so many swap outs via Enterprise policy. I suppose I could understand that policy on one hand but I myself was not the reason why I had to swap numerous cars before this instance. Those swaps for not having the right car for my policy and selling one rental out from underneath because Enterprise was selling the car were not my idea. In any case, they attempted to turn me away but I persisted. Fortunately, my policy was ended by my insurance company and renewed by the autobody shop so I was on a different agreement and I could then swap. The last issue is that they were only wanted to give me either a full size SUV or a minivan were my policy stated like for like car. Again, I had to persist and I got the mid size SUV I should have. I shouldn't/nobody should have to work this hard to get what is owed.
