Beautiful place. See the city lights and night and mountains. Nice trails with a pristine stream. Interesting history of Lee and Frenchy in Visitor Ctr. Nice staff. Only two shower stalls. One had no curtain and water was such a tiny mist you couldn't even wash hands in it! Handicapped shower was only one to use. If you like hot showers, this is for you. Temp was set to "first degree burns". Still recommended! Great sites! We loved it! Dogs allowed on trails.

We spent a quick evening and part of the day here as we are traveling west. This is a sweet little State Park and we were able to get a nice spot with full hookup. There are trails and the scenery is beautiful. We were here for the super moon and it was breathtaking with the brilliant Stars in this dark sky area.

Pretty area, scenic views and friendly staff who are also the park hosts. Stop by the visitors center and say Hi, browse the murals and pick up a map before heading up. New Mexico charges a $5 day-use fee per car and overnight camping charges vary. Camping spaces and rv spots are spacious. This hike is rated 9/hard according to the local hiking guides. Take plenty of water, food, boots and a jacket and be prepared for an intense beginning but once you make it to the plateau the views are spectacular! Be kind, do not leave trash behind. Take nothing but photographs with you, leave nothing behind but footprints. There are several turn-around points so come out for a 2-hour hike or take the 5 hour day-long hike up into High Rolls. The entire round-trip hike takes approximately 10 hours. For the hard-core continue on all the way up to the Sunspot Observatory near Cloudcroft. Note: as of January 15, 2018 the observatory and adjacent facilities are closed until further notice but the hiking trail is open.

The place itself is nice. We haven't done the hike yet. We are traveling with our german shepherd dog jack. Other rv'ers like to come by and antagonize my dog even though he is on a cable. These peaple seem to have their own social circle. Seems like they don't want us here. This is social media ignorance.Note to ignorant peaple: all dogs bark. After all this my wife and i made the hike in the canyon that went off to the left. We went half way then came back. Not a walk in the park as you will be climbing over rocks and a small stream. We met some friendly hikers. We will never let rude people detract from our adventure..

3 stars for beautiful scenery, hiking, and clean/no litter. Would have been a 5 star park if there weren't some big "misses" including a closed bathhouse (the only one), closed dump station (the only one), and power that kept going in and out. The only thing that actually worked during our entire stay was the water.
