Pretty much a nightmare. NOT at airport. Had to take a shuttle as instructed. But they aren't at the place shuttle drops off. No signs. No info. I had to ask Avis desk where they were. Was told I had to call them and they'd pick us up, but I better hurry because they close at 5. It was 430 and I had to call 4 times before they answered the phone. Being  driven, I heard the driver speaking to another payless employee about another customer trying to figure out where to go also. Driver said we (my family) were the only people waiting outside (where the temp was 20 degrees). They basically said too bad and refused to pick her up. Felt so sorry because I understood the confusion. We rented car fine. Upon return per contract, on new years eve morning, no one was at the facility to take car back. A woman told us we had to return to another location. After a circus trying to figure out what to do with 5 bags, 2 carseats, and two small kids and no ride to the airport we just did what she said. I called later and was told by the 800 number agent that the contract hadn't been closed, I was still responsible for the car. After another circus of trying to find out what was going on, I finally got confirmation the car was returned, but this was almost another week after I returned it. I got NO help from the customer service. I will NEVER this company again. Ultimate nightmare during already stressful holiday travel.

Close to airport. Park and fly.i returned my car and they called a midway airport taxi for me and I got to the airport in 15 minutes. .prices are good and staff are helpfull and polite

The people are very nice. The cars aren't very clean on the outside but you're in Chicago what do you expect in the winter. Neighborhoods a little questionable but it's cool. When you get to the airport you need to contact Payless to have their shuttle come pick you up it's a little bitty Sprinter van white with our logo.

Great experience renting a vehicle here.  I was upgraded to a midsized vehicle and although it was not my preferred car choice, the car was great and drove very well.  I drove 1400 miles and having a reliable rental is key.  The staff was friendly although not all the customers were nice to them.  I understand customers encounter difficulties, but the employees are trying to help you so be nice.

I would definitely rent here again, but policies have recently changed which may prevent debit card rentals.  :(  A preferred customer program would be awesome for repeat renters.  Just a suggestion because I would definitely come back providing my payment method is acceptable.

Once again, thank you all so much for making the rental transaction easy and providing me with a reliable vehicle to travel to the Georgia Mountains!!!

We had a great experience with this Payless! I was hesitant after reading some of the negative reviews, but it was easy getting to the location and they dropped us off at the airport upon return. We had a clean, well-maintained car and the person we dealt with both at check-in and check-out couldn't have been nicer. Plus we had a phenomenal rate considering the city was sold out for a conference. Highly recommend and would return without hesitation.
