UPDATE: I was never contacted to answer my concerns. I paid for repairs, and my car was returned to me with a dead battery. That's not what I expect from visiting a GM dealership. ORIGINAL POST: I brought my car to the Potamkin service department in for an inspection, and to repair an electrical problem with my speed sensor. The electrical problem had been looked at by some 3rd party shops, but I decided it needed to be seen by a GM dealership familiar with my Cavalier. My car has over 100,000 miles and has a lot of exterior wear and tear, but she still deserves the treatment of a shiny new car. I dropped off my car on a Monday, and it wasn't ready until Wednesday of the following week. When I picked it up that Thursday, it was a little after 6pm, and the shop closes at 6:30pm. After I paid, I waited for the car to come around for me to take it home. From where I was standing I could hear my engine revving over and over again. After a while of this, my service rep Richie walked by me with a jump kit, gave me a sheepish look, and said my car would be ready in just a few more minutes. When he pulled up, he explained that my car had to be jump started, and that my battery needs to be changed. I was surprised since this wasn't a problem he'd told me about before. I have several complaints. 1) Why wasn't my battery tested as part of the "multi-point inspection"? 2) Why wasn't I given the option or an estimate for having my battery repaired at the dealership? Regardless of their closing time, they should never have sent me away without testing my battery and making sure my car was safe. Additionally, the e-mail confirming my appointment sent me to their temporary garage in Harlem. I understand their location recently underwent repairs, but they needed to update their form letter e-mails. I lost an hour before even dropping off the car in the first place.

If you need your car serviced find another dealership. I bring in the car describe what’s wrong to the service advisor. I leave the dealership never hear from them. I come back hours later she has a detailed list of repairs that are not related to my issues. They tell me it’s 450 just for checking out the car, and if I let them do the repairs the diagnostic fee will go towards the cost of getting repairs. So basically they trapped me. It’s 1k to fix the car or 450 out the window. I get my car back it’s still having the same problems. I call them back and make another appointment. I should have went somewhere else but they took my money and car is still messed up. I bring the car in 8 am Tuesday they tell me they have to keep it overnight. I don’t hear from them. I call several times they send me voicemail. What kind of business practice is that. The next day they tell me they can’t find anything wrong with the car. The car obviously has problems or I wouldn’t be wasting my time. These people just give you the run around. I’m out 1k I have a car that acting up. My next step is contacting the better business bureau

Maggie Walker is best dealer in Potamkin. She had sold us three cars here. We found and followed her from another dealership when it closed. She gives personalized attention, gets to know her customers and produces results. She is patient and honest. This is why she will be our dealer for life.

Just awful - a new low for car dealership service. The routine misinformation about the necessity of repairs which aren't really needed is bad enough but basically expected. But having my car in their shop for 6 days without any contact from them is beyond bad. I had to call Cadillac nationwide customer service to contact the owner of the dealership just to get a call back - and they couldn't reach anyone! I thought maybe they went out of business. I finally spoke to the manager on the sales side who marched over and demanded they call me. And then I got a series of excuses and lies. One was that it hadn't been 6 days it had only been a few since I brought it in the prior Thursday. That happened to be Thanksgiving so obviously not true and I had an email confirmation showing I had brought it in 2 days before. Then they told me they took it for a diagnostic test drive on Wednesday (the day BEFORE they just said I brought it in). A quick check of OnStar showed that to be another lie - the car went nowhere. I brought the car in because it was making an obvious and bad noise that was almost certainly emanating from the transmission. They claimed they heard nothing though my wife, kids, in-laws and everyone else who had been in the car heard it clearly. I went to pick it up unrepaired when they told me there was a problem with the transmission. It only took 6 days to figure that out?! I'm no car expert but that was obvious immediately. I should have read these other reviews before taking my car to Potamkin - I won't make that mistake again. I took my car back without it being repaired and will take it to a place with competence and at least a modicum of integrity and customer service.

I wouldn't wish their car repairs on my worst enemy. I would give them zero stars if possible. I brought my car in for a factory recall. They insisted there was a diagnostic fee. Charged me several hundred dollars to examine it. Recalls are completely covered by the company that is doing the recall, fyi. They misdiagnosed the problem and I kept having to bring the car in for the same issue. Multiple visits and one of those visits they let me leave with a gas tank that leaked half of a full tank out on the road within a few blocks. If someone smoked a cigarette or would flicked a match near me my car it would have exploded. I drove it right back as I had made it to Times Square. Steve was at the front desk and said he could smell the gas as soon as I came in. Five months later after they were not able to fix the problem they sent me an update that said my brakes are dangerously bad and need to be replaced immediately. Weird enough the month before I had to fix my rotars, caliper and brakes. The NTB I went to told me someone poured water in my brake fluid. I hadn't had it serviced anywhere but Potamkin Manhattan. It shouldn't take six trips for them to fix a recall on a model of car they service. Even without the sketchy brakes coincidence the worst service I've received in my lifetime. Avoid them if at all possible.
