Was actually a great experience. The reviews scared the heck out of me, esp since I was traveling with my toddler. But, very pleasantly surprised. Every part of the experience was just fine. And I got an upgrade for a nominal fee. Actually they didn't have the car that I reserved (full size sedan) so theoretically they should have upgraded me for free. But I can't complain too much. The car was clean, less than 10k miles and the process was fast. Hope they keep it up

I have had excellent service from Budget in the past, so booked my reservation despite paying more than some of the other rental car companies. I should have read the reviews first. Upon arrival in Denver, we took the shuttle to the rental office and the driver put one of our bags out on the sidewalk when some other passengers were getting off. Thankfully my wife noticed and we got our bag back before leaving. When we arrived at the office the line was out the door and initially were just 2 agents. We waited in line for an hour while agents came and went, and wasted time chatting with customers (which is fine without a line) and trying to sell upgrades and convince people they needed additional insurance. When we finally reached the counter the agent said that our car wasn't ready and tried to sell us an upgrade. I informed him that as I had a car reserved, I expect it to be ready, and if it is not available then I should get another vehicle at no additional charge. After saying this our reserved car was suddenly ready. The car itself was fine, but we had more issues after returning the vehicle. A shuttle was waiting to go back to the airport but we were not allowed to board despite only being half full. After waiting outside in sub-30 degree weather for another 15 minutes we were able to board a bus which the driver did fill up, but then instead of dropping people off by their airline, made everybody get off at one end of the terminal. We had to walk all the way back to other end. Never will we use Budget again in Denver, and we will certainly think twice about using Budget in the future. I especially disliked the agent pushing us to upgrade and acting like he was doing us a favor. This is a scam I have experienced from some small rental companies, but not something I expect from a major brand like Budget.

There aren't enough positive reviews of rental car companies. We had a smooth process here and very friendly staff work with us (I wish I remembered her name.) We were driving into the mountains so she did recommended a bigger/all wheel drive vehicle for us which we were all for for safety purposes. We did pay more money but she did her best to get us the best deal and I think it's worth it for a safer snow car.

We had none of the problems that we experienced with Enterprise or National rentals. Our hybrid was crazzzzyyyy affordable, the staff was very helpful and pleasant when picking up and dropping off. The drop off process was easy, fast, the price they estimated is what I paid. The free shuttle to the airport came every fee minutes and the driver helped all the passengers load their luggage.

I have rented cars from Budget the last two Christmases to take to Beaver Creek. During both trips to the mountains there was extremely heavy snow; enough to close I-70 both trips. On the first rental, Budget sent us in an SUV that had a hole in the tire. One of my kids noticed a metal piece extruding from the side of the tire before we left the Budget rental center but did not think to say anything. The tire was losing air but we were able to make it to our destination. When we had someone out to change the tire, they noticed that the spare was dead bolted to the car and there was no way to access the tire. If we would have had a blow out on I-70 during a severe snow storm, which was very possible, there would have been no way to access our spare and we would have been stranded in the snow storm. I spent a full day trying to get us a new car and Budget did nothing to remedy the problem or compensate us for our trouble. This Christmas, we were again in the midst of a severe snow storm, I-70 was shut down and a normally two hour trip to the mountains took us 14 hours. The entire trip one of our tires was losing air again. We again made it to our destination on a low tire. Budget was called and they sent out someone to change the tire. The service center that came out put the bad tire under the car. I told Budget that we wanted the spare fixed so that if we had a flat, we would not be stranded. Budget refused to fix the tire. I had to pay my own money, and spend another full day dealing with Budget and the tire repair place. After all that, Budget sent me a bill for the service call for $81.16 and told me that I had to pay for the service call. Two rentals in a row, Budget has sent our family of six out into a snow storm with bad tires and then is holding us responsible for the service call to get it fixed and the cost of the repairing the tire. The car rental center was not willing to compensate us for our time or hassle for the poorly serviced cars they sent us out in. We will not give Budget any more of our business due to these experiences. I would recommend that others not use Budget at the Denver Airport. They are putting out cars that have not been properly serviced and are putting families at risk. Susan Williamson
