Excellent service and a very friendly staff. I rent from Hertz often and my vehicle was ready and pulled up to the door before I was even at the location. Highly recommend

Absolutely miserable experience. Showed up to pickup my *booked* rental & they were closed. I booked a rental for pickup on Friday @6PM. During booking with a person, not online, not once did the person caution me about any issues with my pickup time, etc. The hertz website, google, & the specific hertz site all said the Urbandale location was open until 6PM on Friday. Long story short, they closed @5:30 PM on Friday. No one called me, stayed for my pickup, NOTHING! Instead they left for the weekend. We needed to leave @5AM the next day to travel 1,500 Miles. The only other hertz was the airport which was $101+ in airport fees on top of the normal rental fee. I called the 800# & they told me the Urbandale hertz location manager would call me to process refunds, etc. No-one called, so I called the 800# back. I’ll never work with hertz again, because of this small office in Urbandale. Miserable experience.

I wish I could rate this minus five stars. This is the worst car rental place I’ve ever dealt with. They are are a bunch of crooks and liars. 

When I rented a car from them two months ago, they gave me a car with an empty tank. I barely made it to a gas station. I called them and they said it would be ok if I returned the car without a full tank because I got it empty. 

So I returned the car with a quarter of a tank of gas left. I again explained what happened when I returned the car. And the guy said it was ok. I asked for something printed to show that I didn’t owe anything for the gas tank not being full. He said he couldn’t do that but pointed to his computer screen and showed me that it said zero balance. I had a bad feeling but I accepted it. 

Fast forward to now. I received a bill from Hertz’s collection department saying that I owe $42;46 for a fuel purchase option that I never purchased. I called the toll-free number and they said they couldn’t do anything about it because it shows in their system the box was checked that I purchased the fuel purchase option that if I didn’t return the car with a full tank, I had to pay that fee. So now I’m stuck paying that fee. They are so shady and dishonest. Don’t ever use them.

Really bad experience. 

First, I call to setup the reservation and the phone rings for a few minutes until someone even answered. No holding or answering machine. 

Second, I call ahead of time to be picked up twice. The second time saying I will be at the location in ten minutes. They said no problem and then end up making me wait almost an hour at the body shop until someone finally got there. Place I took my car said this is very common with Hertz. 

Finally, when they asked what car I would want I said it doesn't really matter only thing was that I'm really tall and don't want a small car. So of course they picked out a Toyota carols that I barely fit in. 

Safe to say I don't recommend this place to anyone.
