This Steak 'n Shake re-opend after a fire and I was hoping it would. I've always liked this one. They got rid of the servers and now it's a futuristic kiosk only ordering system. I guess this is a sign of the time when businesses can't afford employees. I don't like that aspect but the food remains the same. Great food at affordable prices. I'll still go back because of the memories.
Worse burger ever. I used to love Stake and Shake but the food and service at this location has completely turned me off. They no longer employee wait staff. You place your order at a kiosk. No more personal interaction. As part of this “conversion” they even charge for water! And then to add insult to injury, they ask if you’d like to leave a tip?! Really? The food was absolutely inedible! After waiting more than 30 minutes for a hammer and fries the burger patties were old, dried out and tasteless. The buns were the fluffy, dry cheap kind most fast food place have switched to - terrible. The best thing about the fries was the salt. The coffee I ordered was hot but I had to prove that I ordered it because the staff said that I didn’t. Receipts don’t lie. Pay attention folks and don’t make your problem my problem. We will likely never come back.
This location is recently reopened and while the food and prices remain consistent with the old steak n shake, unfortunately the service seems to be the same as well. No table side ordering you use the kiosks and get your own fountain drinks. Some may not like this but for me it was a plus. The time before the food was ready was slow but within a reasonable amount of time. However the shakes on our order were not ready or even made. Add another 15+ minutes for them to be made. At least we were able to get them in togo cups without asking. Overall reasonable food at a decent price. We will be back when the craving for a burger and a shake hits but probably not a first choice.
Waited 24 minutes for 1 cheeseburger When another customer asked about his order of 2 fries and he was waiting 27 minutes the guy cooking burgers was talking rudely. This place is poorly run by inappropriate employees. Take some customer service lessons and get a manager who cares.
Not great, but not bad. The little fella wanted to have his burger, fries and shake fix. We haven't been there in a while. Waiters are out, kiosks are in. Menu has been altered to just variations of burgers and a couple of beef based entrees. The personal service is gone at this location. Just get a number from the kiosk and you get up when called and claim your order. Kid-friendliness: Kids love it. Fries and different flavors milkshakes. Burgers not bad Parking: Convenient, close to restaurant
Updated 3/1/23 The service and dirty restaurant is now once again like it was before they closed due to a fire. Absolutely horrible. Ate dinner there tonight around 5:30 pm. People were waiting around for their order. The employees answer to the extremely long wait was that they were in the middle of a shift change. The floor and tables were so dirty and disgusting. I had to clean off a table to sit at. It took over 25 minutes to get our food. Mine and my son's burgers were wrong. I ate mine but trying to get the attention of an employee to fix my son's was ridiculous. Everyone seemed to be standing around talking and the one that looked like the manager seemed more concerned to get food and a shake for a family member and not worry about the many customers that were waiting. Definitely won't be back. Have had lunch here a few times since it reopened. I really wish they would bring back the chicken tenders. My youngest does not eat hamburgers so we can only eat here when he is not with us. He loved the chicken tenders when they used to have them on the menu. Service inside is slow. Used the drive thru last week for a shake. No wait and the girl at the window was very nice. So glad they are reopen. I really missed their Happy Hour milk shakes.
This location; temperature was set so low it was uncomfortable to dine in and I when I looked around, customers had their arms tucked into their shirts and bodies tensed. It was clean though. The food; took longer than I expected considering that I ordered 2 grilled cheese and 1 double bacon burger meals since they no longer offer chicken on the menu oh and let me not forget that the fries were oily and soggy. Oh and the kicker....my chocolate milkshake was very thin. The staff; Not one smile or greeting..... oh and the checkout gives tip suggestions yet you have to walk up and get your own food when they call you by number. My son loved the old steak n shake and we used to really enjoy going there as a family, but I can't bring myself to want to go back.
No longer do you have to wait for a waitress to refill your glass there are no waitresses! Kiosk operated ordering system seems to work fairly well. The food we ordered came out the way we ordered it. My only issue was the bun on my garlic burger was cold. Other than that it was the same old steak 'n shake that we have grown to know and love. 3rd visit Hardly anyone in the place. The staff all seemed clueless. Lots of mistakes on our order. All were corrected but some things were just not right. The place seems like it lacked a manager.
Went there on a Sunday to have lunch with the family and While we were doing the order in the kiosk, the manager came to us and let us know he was short staffed and the food was gonna take at least 25 minutes. We were already there so we decided to stay instead of driving around to find another place to eat. I felt bad for him, he was running around trying to do so much. People were complaining for the long wait, it was ridiculous for sure. A guy left and yelled "keep the fries and the shake, i cant wait anymore". It was 2pm on a sunday, you would think they would be ready to take care of lots of customers. I understand people dont want to work anymore, and they r short staffed, and im sure the pay rate isnt that great either.
The food is good but DO NOT have to use the bathroom. I went there yesterday for dinner and went to the restroom, one stall door does not lock and the toilet seat was on the floor in the handicap stall. I turned around and ran! Both stalls were disgusting and I'm pretty sure there is some sort of ADA violation for the handicap stall. The manager or owner needs to fix this ASAP!!!!
