Very friendly service at check out and return! They are also extremely honest and helpful.
I left a pair of sunglasses in my rental and did not realize it until boarding had started for my flight. I filled out the online lost item form and then also called the local office. The office called the return area and located them in the car. They then held them for me until the could send them to me. They went out of their way and even sent them overnight. Thank you National for being a company a renter can trust!

Had a reservation, flight was on time, but they had no cars to rent.  It was 1am and rather than rent me a car from somewhere else, they wanted me to take a taxi, 40 minutes and then come back in the morning. Taking a taxi another 40 minutes.  They did offer to pay for the taxi.  The problem is that because of the weather and time, there were no taxis outside and given the weather was very poor (ice and snow),  I really had no interest in getting into a strangers car at 2am (waited in line 30 minutes to find out they had no cars).  I had to rent from Hertz at 3x the price.  Now, it is ridiculous to have a reservation, show up on time and not have a car, particularly at that time, you are pretty much stranded.   Given the conditions, I was at least somewhat sympathetic that they had sent people home early, but now I needed to get 'home'.  Somehow, National has botched the post experience service even worse!  Call their customer service line, filled out a form over the phone, someone was going to call me back, they did not.  Reached out to their service folks via twitter, said the local branch would have to call me.  Did they?  No.   When I returned to the airport, I spoke with then manager on site, he needed to speak to his manager, would definitely give me a call back the next day, did that happen, no.  So, this review is really about this national and the entire chain.  Hope you don't have a problem because it's clear they do not care about their customers and their experiences.

I rent cars weekly due to my work, so I have some experience with National and other companies around the US.  National in Norfolk is top notch with fast, friendly service from everyone from the desk, booth, to the check in.  The only "complaint" I have, and it's not National's fault, is the proximity of the rental return to the terminal (and that's all the rental companies.)  But the guys that check in the cars are friendly and make sure you know how to get where you're going.

I've been very pleased with National everywhere I've been, but the folks at Norfolk are a notch above the rest!!!

Great service again and again.  The National rep called me shortly after I got to the airport asking if I left behind my phone charger.  He was going to meet me at the terminal if it was mine.  Turns out it wasn’t mine but I appreciated the effort nonetheless.

Never been dissatisfied with a car rental from National. I have been a Life Member of the Emerald Club since the 1980s because the vehicles are always dependable; the staff always professional and friendly; the web site easy to navigate for both reservations and account information; and the price is competitive, if not better than other, reputable rental companies.
