The car they rented me had a bad battery. The battery died three times in less than 24 hours. I had to use my own AAA account to get jumped and then I had to take the car to get a new battery because I wasn’t in the LA area. I was told I would be reimbursed for the cost of the battery/installation and would receive a one day credit from my rental for the inconvenience. Even after all that, I was still fine with the rental/company because it was so cheap. But then I had to shake them down to get reimbursed for the battery. Dozens of unanswered phone calls and email exchanges for over two months just to get my money back. And there was no “credit” for my inconvenience; just the exact amount of the battery. Just spend the extra money and rent from someone else.

Never ever rent from this place. The worst car rental experience ever! Short version. Fully of hidden charges and rude staff. I made a reservation online for an intermediate unlimited mileage car. When I arrived the rude person at the counter told me that since I had a local license, I was only allowed 150 miles a day. I said a there must be a mistake because I reserved a car with unlimited miles. He says "I guess you don't read. Page 2 of the terms says for locals there is a limit on miles." Granted yes we should all read the terms and but really who reads all that stuff especially when the reservation states untitled mileage. Then Mr. Slick says "what kind of insurance do you have?" I replied I purchased insurance through the website. He says that "doesn't cover liability and this is California, you have to have liability. Didn't you read pages 3 of the terms?" I'm am from California so yeah I know that you have to have liability insurance, which I thought I had purchased. Well after then arguing with me about what my credit card would cover, the car rental which was supposed to be $67 turned out to be $134. Once I got into the car. The interior was dirty and it smelled like smoke. The passenger seat had a hole from a cigarette burn. I drive for about 10 minutes and all these lights came on, worthless junk car. Never ever rent from this place!

I rented from this place through a third-party car rental site because it was the cheapest option. I regretted it when I picked up my car. It took them an hour to get me my car even though there was only ONE customer in front of me. And then they needed authorization for a $500 deposit in case of damage (no other rental company that I know of does this). I almost cancelled right then but didn't know what else I could do. During my rental, I damaged the vehicle by accident (front bumper was loose and would rub against the wheels. Since it was not drive-able, I tried to contact the rental company to get it towed. Despite having access to THREE phone numbers, none of them worked. No one answered, and two of the numbers listed when straight to voicemail. My insurance company advised me to abandon the vehicle where it was and return the keys to the company. Also, this was during business hours. When I returned without the vehicle and explained what happened, the manager was furious. He even asked if I tried to rip the bumper off so I could drive it back. First of all, that's nearly impossible without any tools, and second, a lot of newer vehicles have important components in the bumper. Doing so would cause more damage. Anyways, I explained how his phones didn't work. He explained that the phones are provided by the Westin Hotel and that they've been crappy for the past two years. This is a poor excuse for not having functional phones. On top of that, the manager threatened to charge me personally for all of the towing, repairs, and $150 a day for each day that the car was in the shop, even though my insurance would cover it. Please, go to a reputable rental chain, not this poorly-run excuse of a rental company.

After reading the reviews on google and yelp, I was expecting to have a frustrating time here. I made sure to bring a copy of the policy with me in case I needed to wave it around. Fortunately, I ended up having a positive experience. We had prepaid for the car through Expedia so all we had to do was sign the papers and pay the security deposit when we got there. They offered us a car will a full tank of gas and unlimited mileage (we were from out of state), as long as we filled it back up upon its return. We paid for the most basic, model, so the car wasn’t A+, but it got us all over LA for 6 days without any signs of malfunctioning. Drop off was easy; we pulled into the garage, waited for inspection and handed over the keys. They had accidentally double charged us for the car, but the second charge and security deposit was refunded to us by the next week after we had the employee clarify in their system. Pro tips: bring a copy of your insurance policy if you don’t buy theirs, make sure you allow ample time to pick up your car, as they are very busy and short staffed. If you’re coming from LAX, the shuttle takes FOREVER. We stood at the airport for 1.5 hours, only for the shuttle to either not show up or drive past us. We realized too late that you have to wave them down because LAX has so much traffic. You may want to call the dispatcher to let them know where you are.

Had a great experience with Nu and would rent here again. There weren't any hidden fees, they just expect you to have insurance (which you should always have). The car was great and ran smooth , we didn't have to wait in line to get the car, and we had great customer service!
