Our first friendly encounter in LA  was with Steven at the counter. The process took less than 10 minute and I loved the fact that I got to pick my own car. The car was clean and ran great. This was a great way to start our weekend getaway. Did I forget to mention that this all happened 45 minutes before they were scheduled to open at 8 am. We will rent from this location again and definitely recommend Payless to our friends. Thanks again.

Everything negative you read about reviews of this place are true. Absolutely terrible customer service. The agent was incredibly pushy after I had already mentioned I had full coverage for insurance - after which he rolled his eyes and called my insurance "imaginary" after I had already showed him my policy.  We ended up walking out and going down the street to Thrifty for a similar rate and much better service all around. I would never recommend Payless to anyone - no matter how cheap it is I would never give them my business.

I didn't catch her name but the young black lady at the counter was very very helpful. She took the time to explain all the little extra things and explain the how they would benefit me in the long run like the prepaid gas. Due to the outrageous prices of gas in Los Angeles. The cards are not in the best condition but I was able to rent a car at the last minute. Returning the car was easy and I was able to catch the bus to the airport at no extra charge. I will definitely read from this Payless again. Thank you guys I appreciate all the help.

Do NOT rent a car from Payless Car Rental. Their discount rate is not worth it. I rented a car at LAX. I waited for a shuttle for 35 minutes. I thought I was in the wrong area so I called Payless contact number on my confirmation receipt. No One Answered the phone for 35 minutes. When the shuttle came, there were about 25 of us were waiting.  I asked the driver and the driver called it in and while all of us could hear then talking. Their response was the other companies charge more so the other companies provide better service. So someone their to pick up the phone is considered a better service!

I arrived at 11pm  after long delayed flight. Agent told me that I am going to be charged $25 extra for late pickup! I said no, lets do new reservation , her answer was with smile- you will get a subcompact car for same amount.
After declining rental , she agreed not to charge me, I found out later she change my returning time 2 hours prior as it was reserved,  and add road assistance for $5.00 per day  which adds up to $25. 
Check you paperwork at counter. What a scam place with rude employees!
