I like to give companies the benefit of the doubt because I work in the customer service industry and know it can be difficult to please everyone. But this was the worst car rental experience I've ever and will probably ever have. Not even worth a star. My flight arrived early and the whole 12 hour day went smoothly until I arrived at Payless at 10:15 PM. I waited in line for 45 min while they worked with two other customers. TWO. The woman working obviously had an issue so went to get the manager which took about 15 of those minutes... and when they came back they were literally strolling slowly down the hall... zero urgency at all. Then Manager proceeded to hug and acknowledge the other worker before acknowledging and working on the customers issue. They literally asked the customers for the same information about 3 times. Meanwhile the line behind me was backed up about 20 people long. When they were essentially done with the customers because they couldn't stall any longer, the woman announced they were out of cars. Obviously they knew they were out of cars prior to being done with those customers so they essentially had me waiting for 45 min just to tell me they were out of cars. I MADE A RESERVATION 2 weeks ago. Making a reservation and being told you're out of cars at 11 PM at night IS a big deal especially when you're traveling alone. I was in no rush, but the woman behind me obviously had a stressful day and started crying... and the woman told her that "it's not the end of the world, it's just a car, no need to get worked up and stressed out about it" With ZERO sympathy. It's not JUST A CAR. I about lost it in that moment. That woman needs to be fired. Meanwhile. They didn't tell ANY of the 20 people in line that they were out of cars and closing at 11:30. so after I switched rental companies (paying significantly higher than I wanted to, but was too stressed out by Payless to even care) I went through the line letting them know that even if you have a reservation you're not going to get a car. Yeah, I did the dirty work for them. Overall- extremely unprofessional. Chewing and chomping gum while talking to customers. Not giving a crap that people were relying on them to get to their loved ones or work events. Do not go here. Even if the rate it 11.00 per day, you will likely not get a car because they'll be out of them... and they're okay with letting you wait In line for close to an hour before letting you know .

Well, I should have known how this trip was going to go when I had to leave the counter; go up and around the construction, then over the cat walk, then down the elevator. Then when checking the car in, I was told I would receive my receipt via email within 5 minutes....3 days later no receipt. You go to their website and there is no way to pull your receipt off the web. You can request it, but you're going to have to wait another 3 days to get it (hope you don't need it for a voucher like I do, otherwise you're going to have to pay out of pocket until you get it; if you get it). You call customer service, and all they will tell you is that it is with another part of their office and it takes 72 hours. You ask for the manager and the mantra continues. You ask for the number for the office that handles the receipts and you're told they don't have a number. So much for customer service. If you're government (or private citizen) stay away from this company. You pay less, you get less.

One star being generous. They over charged us and then the manager refused to talk to us. No one answers their phone. Will never rent from these morons again.

Arrived at Payless counter on March 9, 2017 at the Atlanta airport to find a line about 15-persons deep. After about 10 minutes and zero progress an employee announces that NO CARS are currently available and it will be at least 45 minutes before any are. I had a reservation and asked if that applied to reserved cars. He said yes. I asked if I could cancel my reservation without any fee...he said yes. So I walked 10 steps to National and had a car in less than 10 minutes! You know the old saying...you get what you pay for...

Worst Customer Service Ever!!! Reserved car online for 3:30, arrive at kiosk at 4:00, advised no car available. Waited until 5:00, clerk requested a copy of Utility bill even though I reserved with a Credit Card, not a debit card. She then proceeded to advised there was an additional $13.99 PER DAY for liability insurance, advised my car insurance company fully covers any car rentals. She advised me that that was NOT an option, so I just requested that she cancel my reservation. Couple days later the charges appear on my CC, so I call Customer Service to have it resolved. These are the most Rude people I have ever encountered. I asked why was I charged when my reservation was canceled, he stated that the reservation was NOT canceled and I am responsible for the charges. I advised him that I did not sign a contract, and as he can see I never took possession of the car. He states to me "you should have read the fine print, we still bill you." I ask for a supervisor, he says "nope, a manager has the same tools as I have, can't do anything for you." OK, well I will call the BBB and dispute the charges with my CC company. He says "go right ahead."
