I reserved online and was given a discount and when I went to pick the car up they would not honor the discount and the rental ended up being nearly 3x the price I was guaranteed on the site. Even after I showed them my reservation and receipt online they said I would just have to talk to the location where I was dropping the car off. When I got there, the woman at the front desk refused to listen to me or let me explain the situation, told me I was lying and she was not going to do anything to help me. I had another reservation for my return home and I cancelled immediately. I will never use this company again.

!!! NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL !!!

Guys, I strongly suggest you not to work with this firm. It is really the worst car rental experience I've ever had. Hidden fees, taxes, overcharging and so on. They charged me almost $500 more than they should have just because I returned the car 1,5 earlier. EARLIER - NOT LATER! I'm attaching photos of two receipts they printed for me and you can look at them.

First I was told that the price was $1,417.08. I agreed to rent a car at such a price. Suddenly (5 seconds later) the price turned into $1,917.91 because they didn't mention any taxes and fees  first (why? is it legal to do so?). There is a big difference between $1,417.08 and $1,917.91, isn't there? Moreover they first charged me not $1,917.91 but $2,206 (this amount noted on the receipt #1 (in the bottom) as 'deposit'. And finally when I returned the car they claimed I would be charged even more - $2,397.44 just because the fact I returned the car not exactly at 10pm but at 8:30pm-8:40pm. IT IS JUST NONSENSE! My impression is they behave like robbers or so. Dishonest service, zero customer service! Avoid them!

Joe Grieco runs a tight ship but does so with a velvet hammer. In the last 2 months I've had to rent from the JFK location 3 times and each time it has been better than the last. I've been a Blue Chip member since 2007 and have been pleased throughout my experiences with Thrifty. 

This last time renting (Fri Jan 22nd 2015), I needed to get out of the city before the storm hit in order to make it to my daughter's 13th birthday in Miami. Joe overheard me discussing the plans and realized the car I had wouldn't meet my needs. He gave me a deep discount & prefaced that my safety was his primary concern. 

Thank God I heeded his advice and made the extra investment in our safety. While there were cars getting stuck on either side of us the Toyota 4-Runner we rented glided through like an Olympic skier. 

Ask for Mariana or Derrick when  you get to the counter and you will be treated like lifelong friends. Thank you again Joe and everyone at Thrifty!! #LetsGuide #Reco100 #RecoveringKnowItAll

Could not have had a worse experience. Landed in JFK to collect car booked on Expedia. Managed to book everything, declined toll charge addition, insurance, etc as I was only using to go to and from the airport - the woman behind the counter charged me $300 on top of the already paid amount. Returned to the office and she simply laughed at me.
CHECK final charges and do not be fooled into agreeing, make sure the short black woman with the wig is outlining the additions she is adding on against your specifications on and not explaining what they are. She is doing it for commission.
Just say NO to everything, only pay for what you previously booked on line.

Evidently a HUGE mistake to have not read the reviews prior to booking. Everything seemed to go well at the counter getting our car in under 30 mins as opposed to the long wait times everyone is complaining about. Car was decent, you get to pick from a range available. 

Lady at the counter was friendly too, and that's when she recommended we get the daily toll add on at $10/day and not worry about tolls. Sounded good and proceeded to sign for the car without realising the charge was $21/day and inadvertently being charged for tolls way more than what we would have needed to pay.

All customer service would say is you signed a legally binding document, thank you very much. Sad to say that this would definitely be my first and last time ever using Thrifty anywhere.
