I booked with Avis for an 8 day trip to Orlando after searching on and off for over a month for deals on car rentals.... Initially, I made a reservation with Budget but ended up switching to Avis about a week before we left because I found a much better deal on their site. 

Upon arrival, the woman at the counter was quick to process our reservation and very polite. I had rented an Intermediate sized car for our trip and was pleasantly surprised to find a 2017 Ford Escape waiting for us in the garage (no mention of this change at the counter, though). The car was spotless, had less than 14,000 miles on it, and was in great condition. 

Drop off was fast and easy as well. We simply drove up, parked, and a man came up and processed the vehicle information and within a couple of minutes we were on our way to catch our flight. 

This was my first time renting a car and Avis will definitely be the company that I look to in the future if and when I need a car rental. The price was great ($197 for 8 days!) and they only put a $100 hold on my CC (other places wanted $200 or more).

Great service! Our flight arrived early in the morning so there was no wait at the booth... Was expecting a normal, well-used high mileage rig but they gave me a brand spanking new Nissan Altima v6 that was a blast to drive on the Florida highways! Insurance rates are very steep though so recommend getting your own travel car-rental insurance before hand.

I am not one to leave nasty reviews. You really have to drop the ball for me to leave 1 star. Actually... If I could leave 0 stars, I would.

This Avis location really let me down upon arrival. As a frequent traveler and USAA member I have never been treated so poorly by a customer service representative of a car rental agency.

I booked everything online, 2 months prior to my arrival. I called 1 week before arrival to ensure everything would go smoothly. I was assured that my car would be ready for pickup and that my age - 23 - would have no ill affects on my rental. Especially being a USAA member, which allows me to waive all fees and restrictions of renting a car underage. (At least among partnered rental agencies). 

When I arrived at the Orlando International Airport Avis center I noticed the large line and lack of staff members. Keep in mind I arrived at 9am on a Friday, nothing crazy. The representative at the desk was yelling at a foreign couple because their was a slight language barrier. I knew at this moment that I too was doomed. I too was to be plummeted into the depths of agony with this horrible customer service agent.

After waiting in line, I was finally greeted with: "Yeah.. You. Over here." I really don't know what more I could have expected. I mean I was optimistic, but in retrospect that was foolish.

I was then downgraded because of my age, from the Avis signature line to an economy car.
While trying to think outside of the box, I asked if I could transfer the car into my wife's name, who is 25 and just have her drive the car during our stay. The agent rudely shot down that idea, stating that was impossible. We would have to cancel the current order and re-book, and that we would likely end up paying for both rentals or at the very least a cancellation fee.
Since I had already paid and reserved the car online, I was then told that even if she downgraded the car that she couldn't give me a better rate. Even though I had already paid for a "Signature line" vehicle.
So basically I was stuck over paying for a premium car, but received a bottom of the barrel compact economy car.

Seriously AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I rent from Avis several times per year, and are generally happy with their global service. However, at this location, it was like trying to pull teeth to get simple questions answered regarding the eToll system in the area. No one at the counter could give me a straight answer on how the tolls work, or if I needed a transponder, or a sticker, or anything. I had to sit in the car and google the answers. I just had to drive off and hope that everything sorts itself out. I just hope that I don't get slammed with the $100 per toll access violation charge I see on the road signs. On a lighter note, I was very happy with the upgraded vehicle I received.

Beware of hidden fees. The Avis customer service also will offer you a substitute car saying they no longer have the car you requested on your reservation. They charge the customer knowing the car is no longer available instead of being honest and waiving the upgrade fee. Ultimately, they stick you with a big bill. Orlando Avis customer service representatives lack ingregrity. I have done business with Budget Rental for years. I have never experienced such deceitful and unprofessional car rental agents. 3-7-2017
