Worst car experience ever. Rented a small car they tried to force me to take a seven passenger van. If you reserve a car you should get one. Not like I am asking for free upgrades here. Then they tried to demand I buy their insurance. I am on corporate travel so company provides its own insurance. The vehicle they put me in smelled absolutely awful. I finally returned to have to wander around in the snow to find the shuttle with every single staff member responding I don’t know of not my job. I now fully understand why my company strongly prefers National. I do too! There return center is covered so you are shield at least to some degree from walking in snowy slush and they know exactly which shuttle to take for every airline and even ask you where you are going to help you out.

I have used AVIS in DTW many times in the last year for both personal and Business. The staff is great the people are very pleasant. If i could make one suggestion? You do a wonderful job at directing the drop off point when arriving into lot but it fall short  on where the area is ultimately.

Cars and frontline services is really good.  But there is no mechanism if the lease is under your spouses name, she gets delayed and cant pick up a car in timely manner, that the husband can pick it up.  We both called multiple times and talked to multiple people, at a national level who said we are out of luck. Period. We couldn't even transfer the reservation if both of us were on the phone. We couldn't talk to anyone at the local office.  With all the technology out there to verify who people are, its a  stupid response.  The only answers we could get was its for our  security....     Bad answer. Glad this was not an emergency, just delays our travels by 24hours.  I will not rent from Avis again. I will look for alternatives

As an Avis Preferred member the free upgrades, get in your car and go, and the excellent customer service, when you need assistance is AWESOME!  Cars are always clean and I always get great deals!
