Just called to ask about rates.  "Jose" answered.  He quoted a rate for a mid-size car, though I hadn't asked for that.  I asked what his least expensive rental was.  He quoted me a total rate for 4 days, then asked how to spell my last name.  I told him I didn't know why he needed my last name, as I had not yet agreed to rent a car.  At that point he hung up on me.  I will NOT be renting from Budget any time soon.

If I could Give them  no star I would .We made a reservation to rent a car from this location as we have used this location in the recent past.(1 Month Prior ) When we got there to pick up the car the girl pulled up the reservation took my debit card, took the payment then said oh we can't rent to you because you have bad credit. The girl that took our money knew when she asked us for our card that they were not going to rent to  us because she said the reservation was red flagged . Then refused to give us our money back that day. When you debited my account that is just as good as cash. When we asked why we could not get our money back ,all we were told was They can't do that at that time but, that the money would be put back into our account within a few days .OK now we are 10 days into this and they have only refunded 77 dollars that we reserved the car with .My Wife and I would Like the 150 dollars that was taken under false pretenses returned to us immediately.

In response to the customer who stated about being declined due to the debit card:

On the Avis Budget website you will see that, regardless of prepayment, a debit card has different procedures than a credit card. This is also very clearly displayed at the rental counter and every step of the process is laid out for you, so that you are well informed.

As far as the "red flag", that was in response to your credit being declined. You were advised to check your credit and provided with the information for the credit bureau so that you may see if anything was amiss and might be a "red flag" that could indicate you were a victim of fraud, because there may be something on your credit that would have not met the minimum requirements of Avis and Budget. There is no such thing as a "red flag" in the Avis Budget system, so this may have been a misunderstanding.

Additionally, prepayment is taken online or through the call center only, and the actual local rental location does not have the ability to take or modify any prepayment in the system.

I'm sorry if you were upset due to this experience, and I hope your days have gotten better.

I would like the potential customer of Budget and Avis car rental to know that the Prescott Sears rental location is a first rate customer service car rental, They are always making sure you have the best deal and a smooth transaction. You are always greeted with a smile, and a nice car. You wont be sorry,  Thank you , Tracey

The people at Budget were nice, which made it easy to deal with them. The car was a Corolla. Driving the car was easy and it got out of its own way.
