On check in, the agent at the desk added a mandatory insurance for approx. $20 per day to the price I got online when I made the reservation.
The service for car check out was very slow. Also, the shuttle took for ever to pick me up and drop me off.
Only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is that the car itself was good, clean, unlimited miles and affordable.

I was concerned after reading some of the reviews on this company but was pleasantly surprised with the excellent service we received every step of the way.  Would definitely rent from them again.  Car was a vw, really good condition. Picking up and dropping off was fast and easy.  Great experience all the way around.

Terrible service. Sketchy business practices. Car was great but the attitude of the girls working behind the desk is horrendous. Would rather pay 10 bucks more and rent from enterprise, hertz, etc. showed up on time they had the car there but informed me that in order to travel to California I would have to accept a 30 dollar fee plus the toll rate every time I went through or pay 10 dollars a day for a toll pass on top of that you cannot pay for it day by day you have to get it for the whole time you’re there. For example if I had a two week rental but was only going to be in Cali for a day I’d have to pay 140 instead of 20 and you cannot pay for the toll yourself. This severely impacted my plans and I wish they would have made that clear whenever I reserved it. The shuttle driver was super nice and the only nice thing about the company. Not sure how he’s sane working with everyone behind the counter. They did not care about explaining things and working with the customer. Just pay a few extra bucks and go to a real car rental place.

There are many BS reviews on here. Let's set a few things straight; you turn up late without notifying a company? That's your fault. You add a second driver? You pay more. Sometimes the car you booked might not be available. Stuff happens. NU is located right across the street from the on-site car rental place. This means you pay less because there are fewer airport fees charged to the rental company. Okay? So now it's time for the review.

NU has a good selection of vehicles at competitive prices. It's easily accessed by strolling over the road. Got bags? CALL FOR THE SHUTTLE. Staff are pleasant and they provide a very personal use service. They did talk me into liability insurance, which is an additional cost, and they didn't give me any other options. That one negative aside - for which I have deducted a star and I know every rental agency does this - the process could not have been smoother or more pleasant. $10 upgrade to a HEMI Charger. Sign me up.

Lisa is a darling. Huge asset to the company.

For the rest of the reviewers still smarting, go try a discount off-site competitor and then you will understand how well NU is doing.

I didn't have any issues with this rental company. Though I will admit I felt a bit uneasy renting from these guys. You have to sign about 10 things off you don't take the expensive insurance they offer. They also told me that they thought I was going to get charged a cleaning fee because the interior was dusty (FYI impossible to avoid dust in the desert....). Ultimately I was not charged the fee however. This rental is not located at the airport rental hub though it is right across the street so not really a big deal. If you want full peace of mind go with a company like national, they don't mess around with all the details these guys go through. However for me, on Thanksgiving weekend, nu car rental was significantly cheaper so I went that route.
